Nostalgia’s Constant Rain: A Book Review
Dinbhari Pani Parirahancha: A Poetic Journey of Memory, Love, and Belonging | Tulasi Acharya. Reviewed by Radhika Kalpit. When one reads Acharya’s poems one after another and reaches the end, one realizes that this is not merely an ordinary story about rain. Here, “the rain continuing to fall” is not simply a natural process; it is an unceasing flow of human sensitivity and experience. It is the gentle rhythm of the poet’s personal memories and a wave of his emotional consciousness. Dinbhari Pani Parirahancha (It Rains All Day) is poet Tulasi Acharya’s newly published collection of Nepali poetry.

Review of Dr. Tulsi Acharya’s Poetry Collection ‘Dainbhari Pani Parirahancha’
It is currently August's sweltering hot season in South Bend, Indiana, USA. Today, however, there is light cloud cover. A gentle breeze is blowing from the maple trees. I, who prefer reading and writing outdoors rather than in a closed room, am sitting today on a chair placed under a maple tree by the University Campus Housing, and have sat down to write something about poet Dr. Tulsi Acharya's poetry collection 'Dainbhari Pani Parirahancha'.  The poetry collection written in Nepali language is divided into five sections: traditional, memoir, essay, sketch, and short poems.

Podcast Episode: Dr. Acharya Signed Books at Turner Center
Pip: Tulasi Acharya walked into an art gallery with two award-winning books and a pen, which is honestly the most civilized way to spend a Saturday. Mara: This episode comes from Samaya Samachar and covers a literary event in Valdosta where Dr. Acharya showed up to sign his work for readers. Let's start with what that afternoon actually looked like. Dr. Acharya Signs at the Turner Center Pip: The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts is not a bookshop — it's a gallery — and that setting matters. A literary event inside an arts space signals something about how this community frames writing: not commerce, but culture.

Do not belittle this little literary town
Last week, the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts hosted the 2026 Turner Center Beyond the Book— a literary event which took place in the Turner Center Galleries in Valdosta. I was one of over a dozen authors at the event participating. Being a local, I had a new experience of being at a place where I had never been before. It was exciting for two reasons: first, I have been living in Valdosta for less than a year and was looking for a literary platform in my own place where I could meet with local authors and participate in literary book discussions regarding writing and publishing and also the opportunity for reading from my books and signing them; second, I have been writing in both languages—English and Nepali, so I thought it would have been quite interesting to run into some native writers writing only in English and discuss with them the fun and challenges of writing across languages and cultures.

Ritu Varghese reviews "Sex, Desire, and Taboo in South Asia: Religion, Culture of Ability, and Patriarchy" by Tulasi Acharya. The review was published in the Journal of International Women's Studies. She writes: "Tulasi Acharya’s Sex, Desire, and Taboo in South Asia boldly explores the intersectionsof sex and desire as complex cultural constructs grounded in religious beliefs, taboos, andpatriarchal structures in the South Asian context. Divided into six exhaustive chapters, the bookidentifies the cultural and historical interplay of sexual taboos and the moral debates surroundingthem. The objective of Acharya’s study arises from a paradox—while sex has historically been…

Three Dimensions Of Three Continents
Travelogues, or travel essays, or travel memoirs, or you name them, not only reflect on the author’s experiences, but also take you on a tour with the writer. It can, not only remain a physical journey, but also becomes a mental, emotional, and psychological sojourn that takes us to the events, incidents, and scenes the author experiences for us to picture, relate, and reflect. The more vivid the prose is, the more it becomes memorable. One of the widely known Nepali travel prose I have read so far is “Belayat tira Baralida,” meaning wandering Across the United Kingdom by Tara Nath Sharma.

Dunki: A Vivid Account of the Painful Journey Toward the “Dreamland”
I have just finished reading Dunki, an emotionally moving and stirring Nepali novel. The flow of the story is beautiful. It moves like a river flowing gently along its course. Particularly after Pashupati returns to Nepal and begins another journey, the novel becomes a page turner. Every line, every paragraph, and every page keeps drawing the reader in. That is the power of the story. The author's writing style is also mature and accomplished. The novel is primarily about people who attempt to reach America—the land of their dreams—through the so-called "dunki" route, or illegal migration route.

Experiencing Upper Mustang in Nepal
June 1-3, 2026. It was my first visit to Lo Manthang, Upper Mustang. The two-day journey, people I met along the way, places I stopped by, and the culture I experienced widened the horizon of my consciousness. Like Ernest Hemingway says that travel should be “a deeply personal experience,” it remained so. It not only became a physical journey, but also mental, psychological, and emotional one, like what Rainer Maria Rilke suggests in The Only Journey is the One Within — “the most profound one. Our purpose of going there was to disseminate the results from our research on senior citizen care, a project I was involved in.

“Dinbhari Pani Parirahanchha” Discussed
Kathmandu, June 10: Literary enthusiasts and critics held an interaction on an anthology of poetry, ‘Dinbhari Pani Parirahanchha’, in the federal capital, Kathmandu, on Tuesday. The poems penned by Dr Tulasi Acharya dwell significantly on topics spanning diaspora, patriotism, nostalgia, split identity to nature, according to critics during the interaction. Critic Raj Kumar Baniya noted that Acharya’s poetry had a blend of fiction’s plot and essays’ style. So, Acharya has gone beyond traditional genre of poetry with the use of concrete images, he added. Baniya further argued a global consciousness is an essential trait in Acharya’s poetry.

Dr. Acharya offered talks at AWC
May 2, 2026 Dr. Tulasi Acharya, author of a dozen books including fiction and nonfiction, offered talks on two topics at the Atlanta Writers Conference in Atlanta: Research in Memoir and Writing Across languages and Cultures. The discussion mainly focused on how research helps strengthen writing in memoir and how it authenticates and deepens human emotions and narrative voice and expands human memory. Similarly, the topic on writing across languages and cultures brought up Dr. Achary's own writing experiences prompting the readers and writers in the hall to share their own research and writing experiences and challenges.
