Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I say it again and again...all I hope is for my teams to keep me interested until my next team's season gets under way. So, the Yankees kept me interested while my Giants and Rangers are off to fine starts. And then? Knicks in 5 gets going! 020
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Hey, it's me in Acadia last month. Wearing my hat from my penultimate national park visit incidently... #ParkChat 180
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 01/10/2026It's funny that I check in and post from multiple apps, but always forget the MLB one....maybe because I'm afraid of forgetting or accidentally screwing up my PW or something. 😂⚾ Enjoy the game! 110
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I don't know if "Angry Runs" is still a thing, but way to Bear Down on that TD catch and run... 000
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Among my travel goals is seeing a ballgame in all 50 states. Wyoming is one of three states I'm missing. I have zero interest in seeing a ballgame in the Grand Teton or any other National Park. #ParkChat 040

Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Same here. Very worth seeing if in El Paso. #parkchat 020
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026I returned there on the same trip where I got to Johnstown Flood NM. BTW, Does anyone my age or older remember the flood there in the 1970s? #ParkChat 030
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Q11: Thinking about visits to memorials that you have made, name the site and one thing you would add or remove to enhance the symbolism or message for future visitors. @59NationalParks @naturetechfam #ParkChat 362
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Q10: The folks at Flight 93 NHS were kind enough to host #ParkChat multiple years during their busiest week. Have you been more inspired by these chats to visit their or any Memorials & Monuments in the NPS system, or more local ones? @59NationalParks @naturetechfam #ParkChat 773
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Q9: Do places that convey honor and respect like Arlington National Cemetery further the national conversation on our history of slavery? Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026My parents did take us, but I had to go back as an adult to appreciate many of them. #ParkChat 060
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Q8: The Flight 93 NMEM was an example of how memorials can be created by a diverse group of stakeholders through forming of a memorial “community” or partnership. Given this background, what role should memorials play in “community.” @59NationalParks @naturetechfam #ParkChat 253
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026A7 I mentioned the Stone Creek Massacre site earlier. One of the more powerful Ranger talks I ever heard was given there. Combined with the signs mentioning "Reconciliation" and it definitely gave a few perspectives. #ParkChat 071
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026A6 I finally made it to Johnstown Flood NM a couple weeks ago. It was a moving site with some really well done pictures, movies, and just descriptions of the flood. Then to overlook the spots where the damn breached and so forth...it was a more powerful site than expected. #ParkChat 071
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Q7. We may learn much from history books, but what knowledge/perspective have you picked up through Ranger talks or museum visits at National Monuments and/or Memorials? @59NationalParks @naturetechfam #ParkChat 772
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Q6: Some memorials are historic landscapes like Johnstown Flood NPS while Flight 93 and others are a blend between historic and memorial landscape (designed to honor). Which landscapes resonates the most to you? Any examples? @59NationalParks @naturetechfam #ParkChat 872
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Yeah, I think most any scenic view works as a good spot for contemplation. #ParkChat 060
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Q5: Events of September 11, 2001 and others can and have shaped our perspectives on how we value and recognize life and death. What similarities or differences in memorial building do you see today compared to 100 years or longer? @59NationalParks @naturetechfam #ParkChat 453
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026A3: Often, that place has been right by a Park Ranger, giving a more detailed description of the place. Sand Creek Massacre comes to mind for me. #ParkChat 050
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Q4. Think of our more scenic National Parks. Describe any site(s) you’ve visited that cause you similar reflection as perhaps you feel at a National Monument or Memorial. @59NationalParks @naturetechfam #ParkChat 673
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Yeah, humbling for sure when you see the signs and the number of people lost. #ParkChat 050
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Q3: Many memorials and cemeteries offer a place for reflection. When visiting these places, where do you experience the most reflective spaces that speak about the history or event that took place? @59NationalParks @naturetechfam #ParkChat 982
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026I know what you mean! I won't even bring up my visit to Acadia this past weekend. Talk about surface scratching... #ParkChat 150
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Yeah, from the bottom of the hill it's captivating too. #ParkChat 040
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Yeah, I remember first seeing that. Striking for sure.. #ParkChat 040
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Q2: What motivates you to revisit a memorial or monument more than once? Is there something specific that leads you to make multiple visits? @59NationalParks @naturetechfam #ParkChat 752
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026A1 For me, the Flight 93 Tower or Voices sure comes to mind. #ParkChat 182
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Q1: Starting off with an easy one tonight. What is the most unique or standout feature from a memorial that you have visited? Share a picture if you have one! @59NationalParks @naturetechfam #ParkChat 872
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Thanks, Kari. I'll be hosting from NY's Hudson Valley. Looking forward to the hour. It wasn't a down hour when the Flight 93 folks hosted (or when I cohosted with them), and I'll try to keep that going. #ParkChat 060
Tom Thrash @tthrash.bsky.social · 10/09/2026I'm hosting #ParkChat at the top of the hour, borrowing and recrafting questions from when the folks at the Flight 93 Memorial hosted/co-hosted this annual chat... 070
