Caught up with the Strictly Come Dancing launch show this morning. Thought Emma, Johannes and Josh did pretty well as hosts (although next week will be the big test, with the first live show). I liked the way the celebs found out who their partners were - made a nice change.

Well, "Oh, Mary!" was an absolute riot. Bawdy, hilarious, with a lot of heart. Superb performances from the entire cast. I went to stage door afterwards (don't do that often) and they were all lovely. I even got a pic with the wonderful Jinkx Monsoon. A great day.

Dreadful news Friday afternoon. Our cat Ruby was hit by a car and didn't survive. We are devastated, especially as her brother died only four months ago. Gentle, quiet, a homebody, she used to take us on walks around the court or inside our block of flats. Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday. We love and miss you

EDINBURGH DAY 8 (MONDAY 17TH AUGUST) 1) Apples In Winter One of the most powerful performances I saw this Fringe, Edie Campbell is superb as a mother baking an apple pie for her son on Death Row. As the clock ticks, Miriam's full emotional range comes out: love, grief, shame. A superb show.

EDINBURGH DAY 7 (SUNDAY 16TH AUGUST) 1) Sasha Graham's Ghost Stories And Tarot Sasha takes us to her haunted building in 1992 with some genuinely unnerving supernatural tales, balancing it with some live tarot readings. Sasha's a gifted storyteller and this was a wonderful start to the day.

EDINBURGH DAY 4 (THURSDAY 13TH AUGUST) 1) Dr. Jimmy: First Steps Into The Gay-Niverse Dr. Jimmy Lyons is on a mission to prove the universe is gay. This funny, frank, informative show gives you a crash course in physics (which is easy to understand) as well as some cracking jokes. Recommended.

Having a fantastic time in Edinburgh. Seen a load (A LOAD!) of really great shows: funny, thought-provoking, touching, dark, sexy, inspiring, heartbreaking, powerful. I'm WAY behind on my usual mini-reviews. Three more days of shows to go too. That might be how I pass the train journey back!

South Wales theatre folk - come see Caerphilly Players' brilliant production of A Midsummer Night's Dream next week! (I would say that, I'm in it) 16-18 July, Caerphilly Workmen's Hall. Doors 7pm (7:30pm start). It's been a lot of fun. You'd be an ass to miss it... Tickets here: bit.ly/3R97Via
An advertisement for Caerphilly Players' upcoming production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. The play's title is in the centre of the advert, with the text in gold and in a semi-circle.

Against a backdrop of a starry sky with a large golden full moon in the centre and two trees silhouetted against it, a male and female fairy face off (the female to the left of the moon, the male to the right).

The Caerphilly Players logo is in the top-right of the ad.

Beneath the fairies and the moon is a box which has "16th, 17th, 18th July 2026, Caerphilly Workmen's Hall at 7:30pm" in white text on a grey background. To the right of this is a QR code.

I need to get some things out of my head re: Tip Toe. Firstly, before we get into it, there's gonna be spoilers. Ironic because I haven't watched it. And I think it's going to be a very long time before I do, if I ever do. Secondly, I am glad it's generating conversations about issues raised in it

Very saddened to hear of Anthony Head's passing. A superb actor and singer, a genuine class act. Perfectly cast as Giles in Buffy, a great guest star in Doctor Who, and a fantastic Frank in Rocky Horror (just a tiny fraction of his work). Loved him in Cabin Pressure. He will be very much missed.

A great night at the New Theatre Cardiff at The Rocky Horror Show. Been a long while since I've seen it on stage. It didn't disappoint. The entire cast were superb and Jackie Clune was absolutely brilliant as the Narrator. I won't be leaving it so long next time. Fantastic night.

The title (in black text with "Rocky Horror" in large red dripping letters) appears in a black circle which has "The legendary Rock N Roll musical" in white text at the top of it and "A guaranteed party" in white text at the bottom.

The background of the cover is blue and sparkly.

Back from a great night at The Glee Club Cardiff seeing a quartet of fantastic comedians: Amy Matthews, Matt Richardson, and Tom Houghton performing 20-minute sets, with Russell Arathoon masterfully in control as the evening's compere. All four were brilliant; I laughed a lot.

I would be very happy to see Andy Burnham return as an MP - I've always admired him (his work on Hillsborough, what he's achieved as Mayor of Greater Manchester). However, I feel the current narrative - he's the appointed heir - is disingenuous and dangerous. It's by no means a foregone conclusion.

Our cat Jasper sadly passed away earlier this week. He was diagnosed with heart disease in January; we were warned it could cause a sudden fatality. We are devastated, all the moreso for it being unexpected. He was a boisterous, adventurous, noisy, very loving force of nature and we miss him dearly.

Your vote is precious. Today millions of people across Wales, Scotland and England are voting in the hope that their choice will improve their lives. I hope it will. Politicians are asking for your vote; it grants power and removes it. Use it and remind them never to take you for granted.

Lovely pre-Valentine's night out with my husband at Six By Nico Cardiff, with their new menu Lost In Paris. Six tasty, well presented courses each with a twist on classic French gastronomy. The chicken course was probably my favourite, and the crème brulee-inspired dessert was sublime. Magnifique!
