A few hours later, the parents wake, immediately calling the police after regaining their senses, but their child is nowhere to be found. The next day, the parents find a letter at their doorstep, fully unmarked envelope. inside they find a polaroid photo of their child, tied up, gagged, and crying, and a letter written on a grid, and reading: "There is no ransome. I will keep your child alive. I will keep you two updated".
