Linda has two toothpaste tubes: one is 3.4 oz. and the other is 8.9 oz. Since 8.9 > 3.4, which one goes in the carry-on? Which one gets checked? Bonus: How many 3.4 oz. or smaller toothpaste tubes can fit in one quart-sized bag? Don't forget to show your work.

GREAT CATCH: A homemade explosive device was discovered in an OMA Airport passenger’s carry-on bag. The passenger was promptly arrested, and the Omaha Police Department took control of the explosive and removed it from the airport.

Yes, peanut butter is classified as a liquid under both scientific definitions and airport security rules.

The 3.4-ounce limit: The Transportation Security Administration treats peanut butter as a liquid because it takes the shape of its container and can be spread or spilled.

Carry-on restrictions: Any jar or container of peanut butter in your carry-on bag must be 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or smaller.

Sandwich exception: Pre-made peanut butter sandwiches are allowed in your carry-on without size limits

We get it… self-defense is important against man and bear at times. While many self-defense items are allowed in checked bags, bear spray shouldn’t go in any suitcase.
