LOL. Yes, let's go to a Midwestern diner. Because the left needs to do more understanding and more conciliation. Sure. I bet this sounded good in your head, huh?

This isn't ironic (massive new thing that fails). This is, "we can profit off of anything, including disaster, because people will watch".

That's a big assumption that can't always hold (see, eg, the last presidential election). People often do not vote their interests and vote their culture or identity. Second, yes, if our system were different, things would be vastly different.

If it's objectively reasonable to choose the bear and almost no women do, then almost all women are objectively unreasonable?

I'm not mad - I'm wondering why it's an argument instead of a choice. If it's safer to not be around men, then don't be around men. You do you. Be around who you choose. I'm not at all sure why this is a debate. Go live with bears if you want.

What??? Old people want to limit the mobility of teens??? That's not my experience at all. Generally older and middle age folks are talking about how kids used to go do things. This is a Karen take that is priors before reality, IMO.

I fear that that works like in the example (one on one) but not nationally. One person's pain often is another person's felt-need.

Offering nothing or offering nothing additional? This is very poor salesmanship of a bad conservative idea: never look at what is good, look who is getting more.

Enjoy the sound of my gravel scratchy voice after 5 minutes of me talking, or suffer the indignity of me sipping fluids occasionally. Oh, the indignity. Won't someone think of people who can't watch others drink.

I'm sorry, but if you think there's one rule for all humans, you're disqualified as a journalist. It's not hard to respect people, people.

Had to remind myself of the collarary to a house rule: no booing/ridiculing low- or mid-paid athletes/artists...which occasionally means, if you likely got paid very well then you a valid target. So, for a pet goat, that's really great! Otherwise, thanks for embodying the idea that anyone can sing!

We should be applauding that she used her imagination to express herself and create. This shouldn't be an either/or. AI makes more people creative who wouldn't otherwise be. That's an addition to good in the world. Don't like it? (It's not my taste.) That's fine, not everything is for you.

No. This is theoretical thinking without real world analysis. Anyone can be as skilled as Obama is an assumption that I really do not think is true. Anyone can do what Michael Jordan did, as long as they have what it takes! See how easy that is to make a claim about possibilities without reality?

I swear that the visible community-enthusiasm for the Sounders dropped by 50% when the MLS went to Apple TV. Betting on the diehards was a great way to brush off the casuals.

Some people need sun and warmth. Seattle has neither, even if you define warmth as welcoming and friendly people. Nice has a very hard stop here and politeness is what you wield against others.

Can you believe that there's a range of opinions? This isn't a place for diverse viewpoints and so it's worth sharing when we encounter them. It really is remarkable, apparently, that some people think differently than the main.

People could encourage fixing things later by acknowledging words like "self coup" today. IMO, unless that's normalized, there won't be political impetus to do anything much beyond kitchen table issues.

GAYLE KING WAS FLOORED THE LONE HOLDOUT IN THE LINDSAY CLANCY JURY WAS A BLACK MAN. I WASN’T.
Before we ask why one Black juror could not join the other eleven, we need to ask what Black Americans have learned about children, punishment, and which children America sees as innocent.

I don't think that was the goal. The goal was to show what your employment looks like after discussing this in a big way. Minimizing things by changing how you characterize them doesn't actually minimize them.

You said the dog is just there to vibe! But an autistic dog (not sure there is such a thing) would be vibing to things you're not intending. Autistic vibes are not easily compatible with allistic vibes. Stick with the vaccine issue being snake oil.

tryg72.bsky.social @tryg72.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
The vaccine issue is idiotic. But, aside from job issues, it'd be worth preventing if possible. Any social being that is among other social beings but has a brain tuned for intuition on a different frequency and processes information differently is going to have a hard time.

Yeah, the idea is that it's harmless .... *right up until it isn't*. Then the problem is that it is a technology built to act more broadly and faster than people do. So, yeah, there's no realistic harm today! But what's the plan for when there is realistic harm possible? Make plans then?

Look at how low the expectations are: you do not, in fact, need to agree that your team sucks in a debate where the point is to convince others to join you and thereby win a popularity contest.

Why do you think that no women hold ANY world records in track and field that are better than the men? Why do women only outperform men when bodily advantages favor them (long distance swimming)? It's a stumper!
010
tryg72.bsky.social @tryg72.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
Because if you exclude one gender, you don't grow coaches and athletes who know those bodies. Now that women are competing much more, there's now generations of experience to build on. Your example demonstrates that there is a difference.

I picked what I know. It's also the most foundational of athletic competition that I know about I know there's competitive difference because the results have shown that. Not my opinion.

What does the history of women fighting for the right to compete have to do with the fact that if we erased the women's category most elite women become average? If the history were that women fought for their own category, would you want that erased? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_M...

tryg72.bsky.social @tryg72.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
And that 8-16% difference means that an Olympics with no women's category would have almost no women competing at all. If this thread has it's way, so many elite women competitors instantly become average.

Let me Google that for you. Apparently chess gives it's players CHOICE. People can compete in a gender category or an open category. Sounds like this grew out of social issues, women in gaming seem to socially get under some men's skin. So women wanted a space free from men.

The crazy thing is that no one here is a rock skipping enthusiast. This is an outside group, moralizing about a group we aren't a part of. I'm a runner and a man. It'd be a shame to lose womens' competition. There's some excellent competitors who almost all will be irrelevant if we combine genders
