In principle, communism is a socioeconomic and political ideology, while a communist dictator is a ruler who uses the ideology to establish and maintain a one-party, authoritarian government.
The key difference lies in the contrast between the ideal, stateless vision of communism and the authoritarian reality of communist-run dictatorships.
Communism (the ideology)
• A classless society: The ultimate goal of communist ideology, as envisioned by Karl Marx, is the creation of a stateless, classless, and moneyless society.
• Public ownership: The means of production, such as factories and farms, are owned and controlled by the community as a whole.
• From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs: In a truly communist society, goods are distributed based on individual need, not on a wage or profit system.
• A historical path: Classical Marxism saw communism as the final stage of history, achieved after a transitional period of socialism.

Communist dictator (the reality)
• One-party rule: Historically, states governed by communist parties have been ruled by a single, authoritarian party that tolerates no opposition.
• Concentrated power: The leader or a small political group possesses absolute power, suppressing political dissent and individual freedoms.
• State control, not public ownership: The state, not the people collectively, controls the economy and property. This has been described by some scholars as a form of state capitalism rather than true communism.
• Propaganda and repression: Dictatorial regimes use propaganda, censorship, intimidation, and violence to maintain control and eliminate opposition.
The disconnect between theory and practice

On May 22, 2025, Judge Rachel Tanguay ruled that the allegations in the SMART Elections lawsuit were serious enough to move forward. The case-SMART Legislation et al. v. Rockland County Board of Elections-goes to hearing this fall.
It won't change the 2024 outcome. Congress already certified it. Power has shifted. But the lawsuit could set off something bigger: state probes, decertifications, even criminal investigations.
Because this isn't about glitches anymore. This is about a national election that may have been silently rewritten behind closed doors-by a private company, a vanishing lab, and a system with no accountability.
As Dissent in Bloom put it: "If one underfunded watchdog group can dig up this much from a quiet New York suburb, what else is rotting in the shadows of this country's ballots?"
We may never get a full answer. But one thing is now certain: The voting machines were changed. No one was told. And Kamala Harris may have actually won.
