Nobody hands you tyranny in one piece. They hand it to you one sufferable week at a time — and you call the adjusting "normal." Masked agents. Troops in our cities. No right to clean water. That's not bad luck. It's a design. Where's your line? www.trueamericanism.org/booklet

I was raised on the radical right. Then I re-read Adams, Paine & Jefferson in their own words. They explicitly warned that concentrated wealth buying political power would destroy the Republic they built. Two hundred and fifty years later — we are fighting that evil.

From John Adams' Thoughts on Government, April 1776: "Laws for the liberal education of youth, especially of the lower class of people, are so extremely wise and useful, that, to a humane and generous mind, no expense for this purpose would be thought extravagant."

Spent the night writing for Maine. Worth ending on John Adams. 1780, Massachusetts Constitution, in his own hand: Government exists for the safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people — not for the profit of any one man, family, or class. True Americanism — Fulfilling the Promise of the Founders
True Americanism returns to what the Founders actually meant by the pursuit of happiness — John Adams' "ease, comfort, and security" — and makes the case that liberty, equality, and economic justice are the fulfillment of America's founding promise, not a departure from it.

"That government is best which governs least." Jefferson never said it. The line traces to Thoreau, 1849 — 23 years after Jefferson died. Jefferson supported public education, the Louisiana Purchase, federally funded exploration, and progressive wealth taxes. The libertarian Jefferson is a fiction.

Liberty isn't just the absence of a master. It's the presence of dignity. Not theoretical rights on paper — practical possibilities in the real world. A shot at a good life for everyone. Not just those with a silver spoon in their mouth. That's what the Founders meant. TrueAmericanism.org

Musk. Page. Ellison. Three people. Combined wealth: $1.2 trillion. At median income that's 30.7 million years of human labor. 30.7 million years of stolen labor. Jefferson called this aristocracy. He proposed the remedy in 1785, tax the fuck out of their wealth. TrueAmericanism.org

It requires a "structure" of checks and balances, but more importantly, it requires a populace capable of maintaining those checks. If the document is "weak," it is usually because the people have stopped providing the tension necessary to keep it taut.

James Madison himself warned in Federalist No. 48 that mere "parchment barriers" (writing on a page) are not enough to stop the encroachment of power. He argued that no matter how well a document is written, it cannot defend itself.

All documents are human. The "weakness" isn't the text; it’s our failure to provide the stability needed to participate in it. You can't blame "incompetence" on a people kept in survival mode. The Constitution is a blueprint for security—we stopped building it.
