I have never looked into that series, but the wiki description looks cool… I have this thing where I often read stories after I’ve seen the screen adaptation. I think it changes perspective on “which one was better” and maybe makes it not matter. Avoids the let down I think a little by proxy.

I think so. Have this convo with a friend regularly. I never expect a movie to be the book. If it is that’s a pleasant surprise but I don’t expect to be. I see all film/tv adaptations as exactly that, adaptations.

I think it’s become a catch phrase for people wanting candidates to be perfect. They can’t be, because people aren’t perfect. And our system was designed for compromise, so we can’t just do whatever we want. It requires moving folks more conservative than others along slowly, as much as that sucks.

Agreed. I generally consider my audience people who like thesauruses (or is it thesauri?). Honestly, when I use one it’s either to find a word with correct rhythm or because I feel a word getting repetitive. One of my favorite things about writing is learning random shit to enrich a story.

Rewatching Ted Lasso before watching the new season and it reminds me of how tired I get of morally grey characters, antiheroes, etc. Love having a show with a bunch of loving people who love each other and rarely do petty shit and jesus it’s so damn funny too. My memory didn’t do the show justice.

Yeah, I mean, I laugh at stuff that hurts all of the time. That’s life. And I can find a well timed/played joke about almost any subject hilarious if done well, but coke humor has just gotten cheap and easy to me, and it’s just so destructive…

With all do respect to…I don’t know, the world. I don’t give a fuck about Natalie Harp. Epstein files. War. Cost of living. WAR! EPSTEIN FILES! Ice terrorism. Fucking health care. These things matter. Harp doesn’t.

It’s just as ruinous and addictive a substance as heroine, but you rarely see heroine treated with the lighthearted revelry that you do cocaine. While I don’t expect the world to cater to my emotions or triggers, the lighthearted coke stuff in storytelling of all formats kind of sickens me.

Odd random post here: I get annoyed with the consistent, casual, basically flippant and accepted use of cocaine in story telling and jokes. I’ve jokingly referenced it myself, but it’s become almost rhetorical, tropey and trite at this point and to be frank, that shit is a demon that destroys lives.
