SNL UK continues to shine and be imbued with the original recipe. They’ve really tapped into the weird counterculture and I love it.

This is true. And deep down, it always was about the quarterly projections. Show business, after all. But there’s been such a fundamental shift with streaming and the tech company takeovers, everything has been distilled down to base elements. A whole lot of sameness.

Troy Benjamin @troystillplays.bsky.social · 30/06/2026

I honestly can’t tell any studio or their marketing apart anymore, it certainly doesn’t help they’re all becoming homogenized megacorporations, but I wonder how much that has to do with the current state of things?

100

Troy Benjamin @troystillplays.bsky.social · 30/06/2026

Remember when movie studios had varied and distinct personalities? WB had edge and mall shops? Universal had a storied backlot and a grasp on television with a side of Spielberg glitz? Paramount meant cutting edge comedy or horror? Fox meant R-rated action with trailers narrated by Don Lafontaine?
