Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I think when we heal, those who took advantage of us often get upset. I've seen this regularly. It leaves the individual lonely, feeling they've done something wrong. And diminishes the joy we should feel when we've taken back the ability 120

Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I have an issue with trite sayings, like, "Look at the good" or "Others have it worse" because in effect, it's saying you are not allowed to feel negative feelings. Too many don't want to feel uncomfortable. Too many look away when others are struggling. 110
Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 27/09/2026#cptsd I should have had the greatest childhood of all times. My mom was gentle and caring, my dad loved entertaining us kids, and life was good those first 12 years. But mom changed. I suspect she had been r*ped by a family member. she admitted her father was an alcholic who 110
Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Life has its ups and downs. But when you've lived a life of emotional abuse, you long for it to be only smooth. That's because you've been constantly overwhelmed. It's only after you've healed to some degree that this need goes away and the ups and downs become a normal part of life again. 110
Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Healing from emotional abuse isn't a glorious thing. It scary, confusing, and hard work. Just when you think you've got the emotional overwhelm under control, it bursts open yet again. Yet, i'd do it all over again for the peace and joy I have now. 110
Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 26/09/2026#cptsd Did you know abusers target the easy going & good hearted? The sensitive and the empath? 010
Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 25/09/2026#CPTSD When you are afraid to express your opinion, you might have been gaslighted. When you struggle to make decisions, you might have been gaslighted. Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 24/09/2026#CPTSD It is important that people who suffer abuse understand the signs and symptoms of abuse. I had so many clients come to me completely oblivious that they were experiencing emotional trauma. Gaslighting isn't talked about enough so individuals think there is something innately wrong with them, 120

Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 23/09/2026#CPTSD I changed when I healed. The funny thing was, none of my family or friends liked the real me. I had to realize they like the suppressed me. The one who let things go. The one who didn't voice an opinion. So I surrounded myself with others who had healed. We have the most scintillating 120
Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 22/09/2026#deconstruction For those thinking of late careers: I left a monastery at age 44. Went to college and got my BA at age 50. Then decided to become a therapist and got my MS at age 57. All on my own, working 4 part time jobs, and living in the bedroom of a friend. Best decision ever! 120
Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 22/09/2026#CPTSD If you think that healing from trauma should be straightforward, I am here to tell you, no. It's as multi-faceted as the incidents that caused the abuse. Your healing will sometimes go well. And then you will hit a bump and feel you've made no progress at all. 110
Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 22/09/2026#deconstruction Sometimes the thing we think will give us meaning and purpose in life ends up harming us deeply. We need to become aware and allow ourselves to push past the rhetoric of "saving" and see the harm done. It's the only way we will find real peace. 010
Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 21/09/2026#deconstruction I think deconstruction from a specific faith or church is a very personal journey. The most important part is learning to trust your gut and intuition. That means following what is inside you, not leaning into what others have found. This is hard when we've been told not to trust 110
Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 20/09/2026#deconstruction Written while struggling in a monastery: “I yearn to have someone I can go to who will listen to what I say. Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 17/09/2026#CPTSD It's all too common for individuals with trauma to be diagnosed with other things like depression, GAD, bi-polar or borderline personality disorder. I was mis-diagnosed with depression for years. I even told my therapist I wasn't depressed. No anti-depression medication worked for me. 120

Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 10/09/2026I have to share this. Yesterday I was spiraling from a huge trigger. As I stood in my bedroom arguing with the individual who triggered me, my dog, Jasper, jumped into action. He rubbed up agaist my legs. Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 09/09/2026It is a cult tactic to manufacture outrage at anyone who thinks differently. It is a type of brainwashing. Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 07/09/2026After learning I had C-PTSD, I had to learn to love myself again. I did it by doing self-care. Here's some ways: 1. I learned all the different ways to say "no." It helped. Like, "I'd love to, but can't tonight. 2. Taking back hobbies I loved: playing the piano, hiking, and kataking to name a few. 110
Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 05/09/2026#cptsd Trauma is in your body. You can try to ignore it. But your body still carries it. This is the difference between a unfortunate thing happening and being traumatized. Eventually, it will affect your immune system. That's why trauma therapy is a must. 000
Amy G N @trotter47.bsky.social · 05/09/2026Hundreds of individuals have symptoms consistent with complex trauma, but live with those symptoms as they increase to the point of causing health issues and emotional overwhelmed. Do you know the symptoms of trauma? 010
