National Lampoon's "Good Clean Sex", January 1985 (PART ONE)
MOM: No. Absolutely not.

BONNIE: But Mom. Please tell Daddy to buy me a pony. I've always wanted one.

MOM: You wait until you're old enough to earn the money to buy it yourself... and feed it,... and take care of it.BONNIE: But when I get older, I'll just end up using sex as a substitute for horseback riding.

MOM: We simply can't afford it. If your father bought a horse now, I'm sure it would only be to cut down on our meat bill.

PEPSI: Hey Bonnie... what are you doing?
BONNIE (looking through classifieds): I'm looking for a job.

PEPSI: Forget it! Look. They all say "Experience Required".

PEPSI (holding the "Erotic Classifieds"): Look at these ads.

National Lampoon's "The Accidental Issue", November 1984
PEPSI: My period is late!
BONNIE: I thought you just started having them.

PEPSI: I've only had one in my whole life. Now I won't have another one for nine months!

PEPSI: He was too young to make me pregnant! He was tiny. It only lasted fifteen seconds! He didn't even get it inside me!

PEPSI: The sperm must have crawled up my leg.

PEPSI: I'm going to have to get an abortion.

PEPSI: I can't afford an abortion. I'd have to get five years' advance on my allowance.

PEPSI: Do you think age thirteen is too young to be a mother?

PEPSI: I like children. Most of my friends are children.PEPSI: I was pro-choice before I knew where babies came from.

PEPSI: but what if there really is a little human in there.

PEPSI: A woman's true power is her ability to reproduce the species.

PEPSI: I'm going to keep it! I'll name it after Germaine Greer.

PEPSI (in mourning, dressed in full black): I lost the baby. Do you know any good prayers?

BONNIE: That looks like a blood clot, Pepsi. Maybe your period was just late.
PEPSI: Maybe. But I still want to make sure it has a proper burial.

BONNIE: Donna and Shirley want to bury their Maxi-Pads too.
PEPSI (gesturing at what is practically a graveyard for menstrual blood clots): I'm running out of room in the backyard.
TROTS: I know a vacant lot next to the freeway that would make a perfect menstrual cemetery.

PEPSI (grabbing Bonnie's waist): Bonnie! Your hips are beginning to stick out! What you need is a good workout to tone those thighs.

PEPSI (as Bonnie lifts some concrete blocks): If you build up your shoulders, your hips will look smaller!

PEPSI (as Bonnie does an inverted sit-up): Okay... now touch your toes!

PEPSI (as Bonnie runs on a makeshift treadmill): If you do this enough, you won't grow old and die.

PEPSI (as Bonnie soaks in a hot bath): Sweat out all the poisons in your body and wash them away.

PEPSI (as Bonnie gets shocked with freezing cold water): Now! Close these pores and freeze them shut!PEPSI (massaging Bonnie): We'll beat the bacon off!

PEPSI (tanning Bonnie's legs): If all else fails, tan flab passes for muscle.

PEPSI (measuring Bonnie's thighs): Incredible progress! You're already showing results!
BONNIE: You mean these bruises?

PEPSI: Now you can reward yourself with this raw-cabbage salad.
BONNIE (chewing slowly): It's hard to chew.
PEPSI: That's the point... it passes through your body with out being digested.

TROTS: This Ben-Gay is soaking into my paw pads.
BONNIE ("enjoying" a warm foot bath): Rub harder, Trots. I've got to get up at five a.m. so I can bicycle fifty miles before school starts.

BONNIE: By the way... you're looking a little pudgy yourself.... why don't you join me?
TROTS: No thanks. I'm planning to sleep in and eat your breakfast.

[Bonnie and Pepsi are shown walking to Magnolia Junior High School's First Annual All-Male Beauty Contest.]

BONNIE (cheerfully clapping): He's wonderful! I'm voting for him!
PEPSI (bored at Mr. Caveman): Too many muscles... I'm sick of this health trend.

BONNIE: Oh! He's definitely it! I'm voting for this one!
PEPSI (also bored with Mr. Samurai): Too bad... his body totally obscures his personality;

BONNIE: Oh yeah! He's definitely really it!
PEPSI (disappointed with Bonnie): Physique isn't everything, you know.

[While his leg is only visible, the appearance of this mystery contestant clearly has wowed the audience. Even cynical Pepsi is in awe!]

GUY IN CONDOM COSTUME (singing): If you like to have sex... and you don't want to get V.D....MR. PROPHYLACTIC MAN (singing with his arms out): You won't make babies, either... if you remember to use me!
PEPSI (excitedly): He's it!

[Mr. Prophylactic Man proceeds the shower his audience with free condoms.]

BONNIE: Wow! Free samples! I'll vote for him!

[Mr. Prophylactic Man is shown receiving his well-earned crown from Pepsi. The audience and faculty alike shower him with unending praise while the other models sulk in envy.]

PEPSI: On behalf of the faculty and students, I crown you beauty king.

[The scene suddenly shifts to a Health 101 teacher presenting Mr. Prophylactic Man in class.]

TEACHER (pointing): ...And this is an excellent example of an expandable reservoir tip.
BONNIE: I never would have thought you'd fall in love with a male model.
PEPSI: I consider him an education tool.

GIRL 1: Oh god, Do you think they're watching our butts jiggle?
PEPSI: I hope so.
BONNIE: The one in the middle is adorable.
GIRL 2: He's cute but the one in the red t-shirt is the cutest.
GIRL 3: I love his shoulders.
GIRL 4: I think boys look darling in shorts.
BOY 1: The little one is so cute. I love her legs.
BOY 2: Yeah, but the one in the white shorts has incredible hair.
BOY 3: The one with glasses is really mature for her age.
BOY 4: It looks like she shaves her legs already.
BOY 5: She probably wears a bra, too.
BOY 6: I bet she's hot!

GIRL 1: The one in the blue shorts looks like a fabulously nice person.
PEPSI: You can have him. I want the one with the big feet.
BONNIE: I crave the one in the middle... he's the cutest boy I've ever seen. I'll die if I can't be his best friend.
GIRL 2: I'd settle for alot [sic] of hugging and tongue kissing.
GIRL 3: Oh wow, yeah.
GIRL 4: Let's let them catch up to us so we can see if they're wearing jockstraps.
BOY 1: I'm in love. She's so perfect, I bet her farts even smell good.
BOY 2: I've got to have the little one. I'm going to ask her out.
BOY 3: Not if I get to her first.
BOY 4: Do you think the blonde might like me?
BOY 5: Yeah, but she's too tall... I like looking down on a girl.
BOY 6: Me too.GIRL 1: Oh no! I chipped my nail polish.
PEPSI: You should always use an undercoat.
BONNIE: Have you tried "Nails of Steel"? It comes with matching hair spray... "Hair of Steel."
GIRL 2: Oh wow, I gotta get some. My hair's so fly-away in this weather.
GIRL 3: Mine too.
GIRL 4: Do you have a permanent?
BOY 1: Did you see that 80-yard T.D. bomb on Monday night?
BOY 2: Yeah, incredible.
BOY 3: Do you think they'll go to the playoffs?
BOY 4: Are you going out for football next year?
BOY 5: Sure. You're gonna see me pound the pig skin into the endzone.
BOY 6: I'll be working the sleds extra hard... I'm gonna be all-pro someday.

GIRL 1: They looked good, but too bad they're such meatbrains.
PEPSI: Boys are so boring. All they talk about is their dumb sports.
GIRL 3: Yeah.
BONNIE: What do we have to do? Study football scores just to talk to them?
GIRL 2: Do you think it would be worth it?
GIRL 4: I just don't think we have anything in common.

BOY 1: Ick. Nail polish!
BOY 2: Do girls think?
BOY 4: They're really cute, but they're impossible to talk to.
BOY 3: It doesn't matter anyway. They don't care about us.
BOY 5: They only like high school men.
BOY 6: Bitches.

DAD (cheerfully, scaring Bonnie to death): Come on, Bonnie. It's a beautiful day. We're going for a ride in the country!

[Bonnie's parents drag her to the car.]

DAD: It'll be fun.
MOM: It'll be good for you.

MOM: Hhhhhhww! Be careful! That car is going to turn left!

MOM: Don't tailgate that truck! You're too close!
DAD: Shut up, Ruth.

MOM: Can't you avoid those potholes?
DAD: You're just like your mother. Nag. Nag. Nag.

MOM: You're going too fast! You'll kill us all!
DAD: You wanna drive? You drive.

DAD: Don't ride the brakes. Put it in gear on hills.[Bonnie's parents stop to refuel at a gas station in the country.]

MOM: You're not going to fill it with high-octane, are you? It's such a waste.
DAD: I paid for the damn car... I'll put whatever I damn please in the damn gas tank.

MOM: You're driving me crazy. You've got to relax.
DAD: How can I with you on my back all the time?

MOM: You're a miserable excuse for a man.
DAD: I could get another wife, you know... better than you.

MOM: There! Wasn't that fun?
DAD (confused): ?!

[Meanwhile, Bonnie and Trots are taking a leisurely walk through the countryside.]

BONNIE: Wow. This is fun.
TROTS: Yeah. It's so peaceful.

BONNIE: You wanna come over and watch TV? My parents are going out. Okay, see ya then.

[Bonnie starts jumping up and down in glee.]

TROTS: I hope you know what you're doing.

BONNIE: He'd better know what he's doing... and I'm betting he does.

BONNIE: He doesn't have a license plate that says "stud" on it for nothing.

GUY: I have this girlfriend. She's okay... But she doesn't like to get real wild, you know?
BONNIE: Oh, yeah!

GUY: I'm a sensual guy. I can't even go to the beach 'cause I get too turned on just looking at girls' skin.

GUY: I heard that some girls really enjoy fooling around with a guy's wienie.GUY: Wow! It would be fun to go to bed with a girl who likes to do it a lot.

GUY: I get... you know... hot... just thinking about it.

GUY: But then... what if she couldn't get enough? She'd be after me all the time.

GUY: It really turns me off when girls send me love letters and chase me around.

[Bonnie slinks down into her chair in disappointment.]

GUY (platonically shaking Bonnie's hand): Well. Good night. It was fun talking to you.

BONNIE (while aggressively humping a lazy chair): Do you think he could tell how much I wanted to do it?
TROTS: If he could've, he'd have left sooner.

JANET: The point is to keep drinking enough to give you a buzz, but not enough to make you puke.

JANET (smoking): Keep a cigarette going at all times.

JANET (handing the cigar to Bonnie): Hold it gracefully and learn to blow the smoke through your nose. That's french.

JANET: Okay. So now... this is reefer.

JANET: Suck it in and don't leave spit on the end.
JANET: Okay... these are Sartre, Bukowski, and Nietzsche.

JANET: Forget your homework. Read these.

JANET: When the boy puts his tongue in your mouth and his hand down your pants...

JANET: Think about these guys.

BONNIE: To the movies,

MOM: Oh no, you don't! You're not leaving this house in a skirt that short.

BONNIE: You never let me wear anything!

MOM: That's much better. Which movie are you going to?
BONNIE: "Kill Crazed."

MOM: Well, you've got another think [sic] coming if you think we're going to let you see that!
BONNIE: What!? Why?

MOM: Because I heard that it had sex in it.
BONNIE: Okay... I'll call Janet and tell her to meet me at "Tales of the Arctic Fox."MOM: Who?!
BONNIE: Janet Gannett.

MOM: You're not going anywhere with that girl! She smokes cigarettes and god knows what else! Her mother is divorced!

BONNIE: You cow! You old hangnail! You nose drip! Rotten vomit bag! Pork rind!

DAD: I thought you handled that very well, dear.

[Bonnie sneaks out of her room through a precarious tree escape.]

[Bonnie and Pepsi exit the car.]

PEPSI: So where's the pastor?
BONNIE (pointing): I think she's the one in the saffron robes over there by the soul choir.

PASTOR: You must promise to respect each other as individuals...

PASTOR: For what is marriage... but a union of two people who have chosen to get together for disease-free sex.

PASTOR: Let your bond also prove that a man can nurture and do his share of the housework, too. ...You must share your feelings, but not your bank accounts...PASTOR: ...For a wife must remain financially independent so she can get the hell out of if her husband turns out to be a rat.

PASTOR: Go now... joined in the eyes of god, but separate in life.

[In the distance, two cars can be seen going their separate ways down two roads. One half of a "just married" sign is on each respective car.]

PEPSI (in distress, throwing out her speech): Separate honeymoons!! Waaah!!
TROTS: Why is Pepsi crying?

PEPSI: weddings are disgusting. The place will probably be full of couples. Ugh.

PEPSI: Everybody is getting married these days. Whatever happened to playing house?PEPSI (pulling a piece of paper out): When the minister asks if anyone objects to the marriage, I'm going to stand up and read this speech I've prepared.

PEPSI: Yes! I object to all marriage! ...For in it, women trade their most productive years for a false sense of security.

PEPSI (side-eyeing Bonnie): The husbands might let them get jobs to pay half the rent... but the wives still have to do all the housework!

PEPSI (covering her eyes): Then their husbands leave them for younger women.

MOM: Then he goes to sleep and she gets up and showers thoroughly.

MOM: It's a beautiful expression of love between two people who promise to stay together forever.

An homage to the "Trots and Bonnie" comic strip containing what I would consider trademarks of the strip: menstruation, anxiety freak-outs, horniness, and effortlessly fluid cartooning.
a stylistic parody of 1970s comic Trots and Bonnie by Shary Flenniken about Zephyr's bouts of anxiety around their menstruation

BONNIE: It's so hard to think of what to say.

BONNIE: If I was incredibly beautiful, I wouldn't have to say anything.

BONNIE: There'd be so many boys around, I'd be tripping over them on my way to answer the phone.

BONNIE: I could pick and choose the ones I liked best.

BONNIE: They'd do anything for me, just to be near my gorgeous body.BONNIE: They'd take care of me, They'd treat me like a princess,

TROTS (interrupting): Sound pretty much like being a dog.

PEPSI: This school play is a total snooze.

BONNIE: "A Midsummer Night's Dream" was considered a with-it play back in the sixteenth century.
PEPSI: Well, gag me with the Gregorian calendar.

BONNIE: I think it might have some jokes in it, but I can't understand the dialogue.
PEPSI: It needs a rewrite. More sex.

PEPSI (furiously writing): We'll change all the forest scenes to bedrooms. The audience will be jerking off in their seats.

[Bonnie and the Gang look at the freshly painted posted of Pepsi's play, "A Hot, Steamy Midsummer Night's Wet Dream".]

PEPSI: For the first time in history, a school play will show a profit.

PEPSI (in a scandalous outfit for a school play): Through the bedroom have I gone, but g spot found I none... on whose eyes I might approve this herpes force in sadomasochistic love.GIRL: Oh! As true as truest horse, that yet would never tire.

BIRD: A diamond is forever. Made with all natural ingredients. It's the quicker picker-upper. Don't leave home without it. A name you can trust. Say it with flowers.

BIRD: The quality goes in before the name goes on. Help shrink swelling of hemorrhoidal tissues! Get your act together. Get off my case. May the force be with you.

[Trots is visibly annoyed at this point, waiting for Bonnie.]

BIRD (singing): Last dance... last chance for love. You light up my life. Heeere's Johnny!

[Fed up with the bird's repetitive slogan glib, Trots decides to get rid off it through violence. He puts his paws on the window sill so he can reach and kill that annoying bird. At that very moment, Bonnie finally exits the store.]

BONNIE: Whew! Let's go, Trots... that bird costs three hundred dollars!
TROTS: Hmmm... interesting. 'Tasted like chicken.

National Lampoon's "Depression", January 1979
[The panel opens with Bonnie in her therapist's office.]

BONNIE: My parents think I might be autistic because I don't talk to them. Anymore.

THERAPIST: This a common adolescent phase... but you must have someone with whom you can share your feelings.

BONNIE: Mostly, I talk with my dog... he's smarter than my parents.

THERAPIST: Well, well it's very nice that you have an active imagination... however... this talking dog is a fantasy you must outgrow.

THERAPIST (getting up from his chair): It's time to emerge from the sheltered world of little girls and dogs and enter a mature world, full of exciting responsibilities and life crises.[The therapist walks around his desk and leans directly in front of a nervous Bonnie.]

THERAPIST: Forget this nonsense about talking to doggies... what would a doggie know about careers? Or homemaking? Or, most important... human relationships?

[The therapist bows his head closer and tightly grips Bonnie's right hand. Bonnie is clearly uncomfortable with this and curls up.]

THERAPIST: No doggie can reach out... communicate... share your tender initiation into womanhood...

[Suddenly, a phone starts to ring, momentarily interrupting the therapist's advances. He picks up the phone and talks.]

THERAPIST: Yes... she's here. We'll be finished in a minute... I'll tell her.

THERAPIST: Someone named Trots says for you to meet him out by the fire hydrant.

[The panel shifts to somewhere outside near a fire hydrant as Bonnie talks about her experience with the therapist.]

BONNIE: What am I gonna do, Trots?... He says next ek he's going to introduce me to womanhood.
TROTS: I can't help you... my veterinarian says I'm not supposed to talk to you anymore.

National Lampoon's "Food & Festivity", December 1978
[The panel opens with a bird's-eye view of Bonnie, Pepsi, and Trots selling cookies door-to-door in suburban Magnolia.]

HOUSE 1: We can't buy these cookies... they're full of preservatives.

HOUSE 2: Girl Scout cookies? I'm sorry. We no longer consume sugar.
HOUSE 3: Girl Scouts?! Ha! You're F.B.I., aren't you!? Aren't you!!

PEPSI(?): I feel like we're trying to sell poison.
BONNIE(?): If we don't get rid of these cookies, we'll have to eat 'em all ourselves.

[Bonnie and the Gang approach another home.]

BONNIE: We could give them to Trots... he loves cookies.
TROTS: They're bad for my fangs.

[As soon as Bonnie and Pepsi make it to the front door, the man residing within opens it to greet them both.]

MAN: I might be very interested in your cookies... but you'll have to convince me that you really believe in your product.

[Bonnie and Pepsi enter the man's home, placing down their bags, as they try to follow the man's demands.]

MAN: First... take off your clothes and see how many cookies fit in your mouth at one time.[Bonnie and Pepsi comply and are now completely nude. The man then commands them to do increasingly uncomfortable actions which they tentatively follow.]

MAN: Balance a cookie on top of your head and jump up and down.

MAN: Put the cookies between your knees and walk like geishas.

MAN: Now... find the cookie I've hidden in a secret place on my body.

[The panel shifts once again to a shot just outside the front door. A concerned Trots is forced to listen to shenanigans occurring inside the home.]

MAN: Let's see if your cookies go limp in a steamy bathroom!

[A while later, an ecstatic Bonnie and Pepsi, in various states of undress, run out from the home, hooting and hollering.]

PEPSI: He bought all our cookies!
BONNIE: We've earned our merit badges in saleswomanship!
TROTS: You now have a great future ahead of you... as Avon ladies.

National Lampoon's "Goofy-Time Fun Mirror", November 1978 /// CONTENT WARNING: Mentions of Bombs, Plane Hijackings, and Explosions ///
[The panel opens with Bonnie's marching band in line at the airport.]

PEPSI: Just think! In twelve hours we'll be in Vienna winning the Johann Strauss Eighty-Fifth Annual Battle of the Bands!
BONNIE: Boy! I thought we'd never sell all the candy bars it took to finance this trip!

[Bonnie and Pepsi stand behind a large sign that reads, "Warning! Air Piracy is not a laughing matter! It is unlawful to joke or make references to hijackings or related criminal actions. Offenders will be prosecuted. FAA. Reg Sect 40??. Bonnie and Pepsi look towards each other with mischievous grins.]

PEPSI: Say! Did you hear the one about the hijacker's mother-in-law? She made 'em take the plane to Miami Beach.
BONNIE: Hee!

PEPSI: How many Pakistanis does it take to hijack a jet? Two hundred to fill up the plane and one to write the ransom note.
BONNIE: Ooh! Hoo Hoo Ooo!BONNIE (laughing): Oh please sir could you take this plane to Cuba or should I shoot myself?

BONNIE: What's purple and carries grenades in its combat boots? Yassir Aragrape!

PEPSI: What did the South Moluccan terrorist say to the pilot? Nothing! He didn't recognize him 'cause he was wearing sunglasses!

PEPSI: And then there was the Mad Bomber who mailed five sticks of dynamite to his nearest relative and smuggled his insurance policy onto the plane.

BONNIE: What costs ten million dollars and blows up?!!

[Bonnie and Pepsi are reduced to fits of snorts and wheezes at their plane jokes.]

PEPSI: Whew! Yawk! Snuck!
BONNIE: Har Har Hoo Snort!

[Behind them, a stern and angry looking security guard(?) [Look, I don't really understand how airport security worked before 9/11. I'm like 19, okay?] appears.]

BONNIE: Hey... if I take my gun on the plane, do I have to sit in the smoking section?

[The guard lifts a cackling Bonnie and Pepsi away towards their holding cell as the rest of their band looks in shame.]

PEPSI: Oh! Hee! Yuk Yuk Yuk!
BONNIE: Hee Hee Hee Hee Hee Snok!

[Through a couple gaps in the barred window, Trots relays some information about the band.]

TROTS: The rest of the band says they're not really mad that you made them miss the plane and lose the contest... and they'll bail you out as soon as they sell enough candy bars.

National Lampoon's "Entertainment", October 1978
[The panel opens with Pepsi talking to Bonnie on the job at her uncle's drugstore.]

PEPSI: Sure, the job market for teens is tight... but there's always room for an imaginative go-getter in sales work.
TROTS: It also helps if your uncle Eckerd owns a drugstore.

PEPSI: With sheer merchandising expertise... I can sell half the store to someone who comes in to use the phone!

[At that very moment, a boy around their age enters the stores to buy condoms.]

TEEN (awkwardly): Uh... excuse me... I'd like a twin pack of Uneeda rubbers, please.
PEPSI: Oh, please... allow me to introduce you to our modern line of precision engineered pleasure sheaths.

PEPSI: They not only protect you from vicious diseases and tragic pregnancy... but now they're specially designed to provide a cornucopia of erotic delights!

PEPSI (stretching out a rubber): For instance... this vulcanized double belted radial for greater traction! In assorted colors to suit your mood.PEPSI (sensually holding a ribbed condom): Perhaps this "Pleasure Bump" model... made from the natural membranes of ulcerated sheep!

[The boy and Bonnie are visibly grossed out by this.]

PEPSI: How about these unique "Hollywood Celluloid" condoms?... "Starwars" with little R2D2 on its tip... "Jaws" with a fin... and the latest, "Grease"!

PEPSI (pulling his face directly into hers): I myself could really go for a man who buys this generously lubricated, extra long, banana-scented tickler with thousands of raised rubber studs!

[Predictably, Pepsi shirks her responsibilities and goes off with the boy to use the upsold product, leaving Bonnie and Trots to man the counter.]

PEPSI: Hey, Bonnie! You can have my job!

[Bonnie and Trots comedically decide to utilize the condoms in the manner of circus balloons, inflating and shaping them into various kinds of animals and objects. They litter the counter in a delightful fashion while only being marketed with a makeshift sign that reads, "buy these DeLightful Rubbers!".]

BONNIE (cheerfully): Utilizing aggressive sales techniques, I can sell enough of these to give hours of enjoyment and maybe get a promotion!
TROTS: Blow me a Dachshund.

[The panel opens with Bonnie and Pepsi perving on their male classmates behind the cover of the tree line.]

PEPSI (with a wide grin): Oh wow! Look at those guys!

PEPSI: Look at their eyes... they're crazed with animal intensity!

PEPSI: Lord have mercy on my hormones... I love those shoulders! Those round, firm heinies!

PEPSI: And hey... check out the huge bulges in that one's pants!

PEPSI: Ooh! They tore his shirt. You can see his scars!

PEPSI: Oh gawd. He's bending over... he's spreading his legs so far apart![Bonnie and Pepsi become frantically more and more aroused as Pepsi goes on with her horny rant.]

PEPSI: They've got him down! They're on top of him!

PEPSI: Oh my heart! The panting! The grunting! The groaning! I'm dripping!

PEPSI: I'd like to lick the sweat off every one of them.

[The panel shifts to a scene of players engaging in a practice game of a football.]

PEPSI (presumed): Football practice is so sensual.
