I had found it here - www.macpac.gov/wp-content/u... - specifically pg 26, but it's not current, so I don't know what the number for 2026 is, or what 2025 was.

Note - Option 2 doesn't make them safer. It just makes them differently bad.
000
Tross @tross.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Option 1 - they realize they are part of the bad guy group, then bond with their side, and become bad guys Option 2 - they maintain they're different, and still only act for a reward We (people looking to make a better society) push option 2, because marginal improvement is still _improvement_

The fact that they are part of that other side hasn't occurred to them. And it's a mixed bag if you want to paint them that way

Tross @tross.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
It's because they don't see themselves as part of the fight. To a guy, who thinks he's a good guy, the fight is between all women (one side) vs bad guys (other side). They see themselves as a third party. In any conflict, a third party only gets involved for a potential reward to them personally.

"...if we ignore people like you" So, not universal healthcare then - healthcare only for people who agree with your personal political stances. Congratulations. You are now _exactly_ like the maga right. Them and theirs only, and death for everyone else.

"...gets better care for half the price" Bold claim. Got data to back it up? How are you comparing quality of care and price in UHC countries vs the US? Because there are multiple ways to do it.

Tross @tross.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
"All other industrialized country" That's 'countries'. There are 37 industrialized countries out of the 195 total, or less than 20%. So the other 80% of the population doesn't matter to you. Also the stance of most of the hard-right for arguing _against_ universal healthcare.
100
Tross @tross.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Medicaid doesn't pay the cap on prices - it pays 75-80% less. When regulations - forced by the market or the govt - disappear, private businesses raise prices. They always have. In every industry. To deny that is to deny reality of centuries of data.
000
Tross @tross.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
No, @mapsanddata.bsky.social (tag them if you're going to name them) is expressing their _opinion_, and is expressing a desire for prioritizing higher wages and wider coverage - both things that most people would agree with. Disagree with them all you want, they haven't said anything untrue yet.
000
Tross @tross.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
What's ironic is your last question - 'we can't have something better than someone else?' That question is the exact justification the hard-right uses to argue _against_ universal healthcare.
000
Tross @tross.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Zimbabwe is not the only country that doesn't - 30% of the world doesn't - and if you're a serious person you may want to look into _why_ they don't. Because the reason why is the reason why we don't here. Account for those issues, and it's an easier sell here.
000
Tross @tross.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
The prev commenter you blocked gave you the benefit of the doubt and said 12%, the low end. Since you blocked them for telling you the truth, I suspect now you'll also block me for the same. Maga also denies reality when it doesn't want to look.

This is why anecdotal evidence is a fallacy - people's experiences are different, and they shouldn't match - diversity is a good thing after all. But data and evidence prove that you are wrong - medicaid does deny claims - 15% of claims

Tross @tross.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
I have been on medicaid and they routinely deny things my doctor orders - MRIs being the most recent one. You are a liar. Thankfully, the internet exists - tinyurl.com/3f8ze3tk tinyurl.com/me3sv7rc tinyurl.com/yx6b5mus - 15% of medicaid claims are denied tinyurl.com/pn8ensa4 - number 4

Tross @tross.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Can I ask where you got that statistic? I've looked and seen a lot of different answers - hoping you have a source for yours. It'll be handy to have next time this comes up (inevitable). Also I think they blocked you. They will likely block me too. Same reason. But thanks for trying anyway. 🫂

Tross @tross.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Those are exceptions. I've been on Medicaid - no one on goes to the hospital if there's any poss way to avoid it. The red-tape is a nightmare. The hospital pharmacy is a nightmare (the doctor who wrote the Rx is standing in line _with_ me and pharmacy still calls his office for confirmation). 🤦🏻‍♂️
100
Tross @tross.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
But they still have to justify procedures to non-doctors in the govt. Medicaid doesn't rubber-stamp - procedures still get denied, and it takes _longer_ to resolve those issues because the govt takes longer to do anything. And if doctor's office lay off staff, unemployment goes up = also bad.
100
Tross @tross.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Other countries don't. Only about 70% of the world has a universal healthcare, and they aren't all the same, and _none_ of them have coverage as broad as what Medicaid covers. And it's not free - and many of them still require copays, deductibles, etc.
100
Tross @tross.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Because right now the amount charged to Medicaid for procedures is a percentage of what they normally cost in the market - no market means there's no cap on prices, and doctors will charge whatever they want - prices go up, and taxes with it. That's not sustainable.
100
Tross @tross.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Medicaid requires prior auth, and frequently denies procedures - it's not an auto-yes for anything the patient needs.
000
Tross @tross.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Not frequently. Always. Medicaid _always_ requires prior auth.
000
Tross @tross.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Is prefer the ability to have Medicaid as secondary insurance for people with other health insurance - if their primary denies a claim, Medicaid has to cover it. That would be a better first step in my opinion.
000
Tross @tross.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
It is, but I'm not sure how thevgovt is going to pay for Medicaid for everyone in the country. BCBS Platinum is about 25k/yr, and covers everything Medicaid (which isn't everything). That would put the price tag at 8.7tril this year. More than 8 times what it is now. Means more taxes.

The Chronicle of Higher Education used to have a searchable database of Title 9 violations - it was accessible by the public. It's gone. Disappeared in 2019. This administration can't be trusted to track them, or put accurate info online. Who was tracking them from 2019-2026? Anyone know?

Because literally no one is talking about this it seems - www.k12dive.com/news/educati... Sept 28th - the trump administration just wiped title 9. It's one thing that it wasn't enforcing the rule - that's bad enough, but it just reversed it to the 2020 definitions. It won't stop there.

If you want to know what this administration isolating us from other countries has done to the economy, take a look at what a microwave or mini-fridge costs now. That's the effect of tariffs. I bought a mini-f in 2023, when mine died. $100 new. Same one now? $400. Wtf.

Because that's the point - the constitution set up *minimum* requirements, anyone can run if they qualify - put up an age cap, and suddenly the older population doesn't matter to politicians anymore. The first woman in Congress? 4 years *BEFORE* women had the right to vote. Coincidence? No.

The cheapest plan I've found on the ACA is ~16k/yr. using that instead of BCBS leaves 1489/month. Better. But rent in the entire state isn't less than 2000/month for a studio apt. So, really, no change. Again. How is that enough to live on?
001
Tross @tross.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
start 1000000, interest = 40k BCBS = ~25k/yr covers everything medicaid does grocery = 292/month = food stamps amount 1 mil to start with, and the interest isn't enough to live on. A min wage job is 15/hr in MA - full-time is 31200 before taxes. Tell me how that's enough to live on.

Tross @tross.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
You're unemployed, and homeless; you win the lottery; after taxes you have $1 mil. You put it in a hysa at 4% interest. In one year, it earns 40k. After taxes it's 37380. After health insurance and grocery, there's 8876 left, or 739/month. SSI is 1024/month, medicaid free.
