Reporting back, boss. The century egg Doritos were actually fairly mild. There was a pungent but not off-putting smell upon opening the bag. The taste was heavy on the umami side with more than a hint of egg yolk (not unsurprisingly). Decent, 5.5/10 snack. Incidentally, here's what was alongside it.
Image of three bags of different flavored Doritos tortilla chips on a grocery store shelf. The left-hand bag is century egg flavor Doritos, dark gray with a black and orange Doritos logo in English and Chinese characters, featuring a dark grey egg and a black triangular Doritos chip. The middle bag is coriander flavor, with a green coriander leaf and a green Doritos chip below the black and orange Doritos logo with a green background. The right-hand bag is black cuttlefish flavor, with an image of a light red cuttlefish and a light brown Doritos chip on a gray background below the Doritos logo. All the chips are imported from Taiwan and cost 23 Hong Kong dollars (3 US dollars).

Couldn't help but think of @wanderbot.bsky.social's current Doloc Town playthrough when I saw these on the grocery store shelf. I daresay Taiwan's outre flavor game is as good as many people think Japan's is.

Oh good grief. No wonder our political chat goes the way it does.

Gosh. I don't feel particularly bolshie, but the quiz suggests otherwise. A curious place to be for someone who was a Young Republican and a committed Fox News watcher well into my 20s. (I'm feeling much better now.)

Latest update to my scarf collection, with Mexico, Canada, and the Toronto Maple Leafs joining the fold. I limit the collection to teams I've seen in person, though these are not all the teams I've seen live. I'd have some real bangers if so: April 25, Mongolia, Maldives, Solomon Islands, etc.
A series of club and national team scarves laid out atop a bed. The collection represents teams I have seen play in person. The teams, from left to right and from front to back: Jubilo Iwata, Kashima Antlers, Gamba Osaka, Tokyo Verdy, Kawasaki Frontale, Urawa Reds, Kyoto Purple Sanga, Yokohama F Marinos, FC Seoul, Japan national team, Omiya Ardija, FC Tokyo, Indonesia national team, Persija Jakarta, Beijing Guo'an, Hong Kong national team, Kitchee, Lee Man, Wellington Phoenix, Auckland City (2016 Club World Cup edition), Singapore national team, Tampines Rovers, Albirex Niigata Singapore, UAE national team, Al Duhail, Al Rayyan, Al Jazira (UAE), Al Nassr (KSA), Qatar national team, Canada national team, Mexico national team, USA national team, USA-Poland (July 2004 friendly in Chicago), Boston Breakers, Kansas City Wizards, FC Dallas, Epic Americaness, Japan-Australia rugby friendly, Toronto Maple Leafs, Ajax, AFC Wimbledon, Fulham, Hibernian, Yakult Swallows, Hiroshima Carp, Yomiuri Giants, Hanshin Tigers, Seibu Lions.

Captain Midwest, that's me. Odd that I somehow gave myself away as Nebraska yet am somehow most similar to Denver, Montana, and the Pacific Northwest.

Hey folks! I've been chosen to be part of the Fall in Love Visual Novel Festival, presented by @vnstudioelan.com! It runs Sept 1-9 and features romance visual novels from around the world. I can't start until the 2nd (stoopid time zones), but there will be great games aplenty. #FallInLoveFestival

The one on the right is a light-skinned woman with green eyes and light pink, shoulder-length hair wearing a purple off-the-shoulder dress. The one on the left (being embraced by the first woman) is slightly taller with darker skin, light blue eyes, and aquamarine hair with a dress that is also aquamarine. The backgroup appears to be a greenhouse or sunroom, with sunlight streaming in and highlighting green bushes and white flowers.

A snap from last night's Darkwalker speedrun. @raphlife.bsky.social did say it was strange not to have timberwolves in Timberwolf Mountain, and boy did that run deliver. Had one pack on Crystal Lake and another right on the campfire. Took a few shots before popping a stim and racing to Ash Canyon.

New PB! Took 23 minutes off my previous best, and there's still lots of time to be saved. My immediate goal is sub-2 hours, and I feel like it might've been in play had I not had two timberwolf packs aggroed on me AT THE SAME TIME. Ah well, every day is a school day.

It finally happened. After almost a decade, Stardew Valley has been dethroned as my most-played game on Steam. #TheLongDark is the new champ, overtaking SDV during the Dance with the Darkwalker tournament. Wild how much TLD and the community around it has changed my life, and I'm so grateful for it.

Man whose continued financial viability and relevance depends on AI demands everyone embrace AI. Also, below is just further evidence we are simply not dealing with serious people.
A screengrab of a Financial Times article. The clip reads as follows: To enable the rollout of AI, the Japanese investor estimated that 3 terawatts of data centres would be needed by 2040 to provide the computing power to run trillions of AI agents and billions of humanoid robots.
The figure is equivalent to about a third of total installed power capacity globally, according to the International Energy Agency’s estimates.
The SoftBank founder said gas-fired power generation would be needed to achieve that, but in the longer term, nuclear fusion would take its place.
Numerous start-ups and research programmes are working on fusion around the world, but none has demonstrated sustained power generation to date.

I got Pronoun Palace during the Steam Summer Sale thanks to @dominictarason.com's recommendation. There's a lull in incrementals and I was looking for a game to vibe to, and this one hits the spot. Also, I am unreasonably pleased that this was the word with which I won my first run.

We did it, Reddit! A 3:1 video to subscriber ratio! (Note: this is not a veiled plea for subs. I just find it hilarious. Twitch is my main outlet, and YouTube is primarily VOD storage. I don't make YT-specific content, my videos run long, and my thumbnail game is basic, so this is what I deserve.)

Yes, questions about affordability, jobs, housing, etc., but it's fun to think about. Mostly I'd just want to avoid the heat, with certain locations getting special dispensation for family reasons or just being rad. Give me snow on Halloween or April Fool's Day over heat and humidity.

There was about 3 dozen cedar firewood, 10 or so fir, about 200 sticks, 80 pieces of coal, my bedroll, and about 2,300kg of raw fish, bear, and wolf meat. Cover art for the video game Dredge, showing a small, light brown fishing boat set against a cloudy siena sky on turquoise ocean with a red and white lighthouse in the backgroundCover art for the video game Growing Up, showing a teenage girl with shaggy brown shoulder-length hair, freckles, brown eyes, an orange tank top and dark green beanie standing in an elementary school playgroundCover art for the video game I Was a Teenage Exocolonist, showing the main character Sol on the left in wavy blue hair and a green, blue, and white coat in front of a purple sky with 10 supporting characters in muted background imagesCover art for the video game Slay the Princess, showing the titular princess wearing long hair past her shoulders, large anime-style eyes, and a white gown in a black and white image with shattered glass displaying several of her various personalities

More importantly, dinner. Char siu sausage roll and Coke Zero, a cool HK$90 (US$11.50). Not quite scran, but filling.

Text saying "would" beneath the image of a Japanese lawmaker leaning in to use a microphone despite many other lawmakers grabbing at him to stop him from speaking. The "would" is in reference to a photo of a "meat pie crust" pizza from Domino's Australia loaded with Four 'n' Twenty Aussie beef mini pies.

Share the last 4 games you've played and expose your gaming habits. Blue Prince has so consumed me that it was a wrestle to think back four games ago (thanks @haelian1.bsky.social). I guess my gaming habits are indie titles that will rule my life for hundreds (or thousands, in TLD's case) of hours.

The scene at 0330, almost 2 hours after scheduled takeoff.
Passengers crowd around Cathay Pacific staff at Gate E10 of Boston Logan Airport, seeking answers as to why their flight is delayed by 2 hours and counting.

A nod to someone who wasn't an EIC but should've been:
Baltimore Sun city desk editor Augustus Haynes from The Wire, wearing a light purple button-down shirt with a brown tie and sports an incomplete goatee

Started replaying the Wintermute story mode of #TheLongDark last night in anticipation of Episode 5 (no, I don't know when it's dropping, either). Found this while gathering lore. Is @raphlife.bsky.social cursed with the gift of prophecy, or was the current nonsense that foreseeable in 2017?
HISTORY OF THE COLLAPSE, PART ONE: In the mid-20XX, the ongoing global economic crisis, fueled by continued political instability in the US and Europe, contributing to increasing volatility in the financial markets, led to the sudden catastrophic collapse of the Canadian, and in general, the North American banking system. This immediately rendered Canadian currency worthless, triggered super-inflation of the US dollar, and all trade and economic activity promptly shifted to the Chinese Yuan or crypto-currencies (a la Bitcoin). Crippled economically, Canada was brought under the financial oversight of the North American Economic Zone, which positioned Canada as a kind of protectorate of a larger US-based economic bloc. From this point onward, the majority of economic activity became centralized on Canada's already densely urbanized population, with smaller rural and remote communities being essentially cut off. Without a local economic lifeline many of these communities had become dependent on for their continued existence, most rural or remote communities became hollowed out, as people fled to urban areas in search of greater economic stability.
