Initially thought not to overthink this, just hand the ball to the WS MVP. Then I remember he didn't start any of the G1's last year. Also makes sense to get 3 starts from LHP against a lefty heavy lineup.

If you think about it, several of the FA/trades over the last couple of years have not worked out or uneven. -Tucker & Diaz: bust so far -Snell & Glasnow have been hurt most of their tenure but performed in OCT -Scott was awful last year -Sasaki inconsistent -Conforto & Kirby were awful

Completely fine with this. Skubal was brought in to increase the odds of winning the WS. If he elects to go back to DET to get his bag, that is fine. A Win-Win situation for both teams.
