As a treat, here's the beginning: The title is Breakfast in Bed.

Dimos

Apollo’s beams drift lazily through curtains and find themselves on my eyelids. As if to hold back the passage of time, I squeeze them tight and keep the lord’s light at bay, just a little longer. It is a hopeless goal, but one must fight her battles as they come. It is supposed to be a great honor to give everything for your city, but only the most devout of my sisters actually thinks that means everything. It’s merely human nature to hoard what we can, even if it means being a few minutes late to a briefing.
I lose my little war with time and finally open my eyes to take in the room I’m in. I don’t specifically recognize it, though the decor is decidedly Dionysian. Three of the walls are a dark wine, the same color as a heady night on the prowl. They are covered in sketches, paintings and posters for underground concerts around the city, a number of which I recognize as not half-bad. The fourth wall is taken up with floor-to-ceiling windows from which the offending beams of light originated. I groan as I roll from the bed and cross the meter to the curtains, adjusting them and hoping to find a few more moments of rest.
When I turn to face the bed I find one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen, fast asleep and naked as the day she decanted. I’ve seen her before, or at the very least girls that looked just like her, but she was a specimen above the rest. Deep green hair like a field of flowers just before the bloom cascaded around her head and shoulders, framing a full face that was quite literally designed to entice. She is older than any of the clones I’ve seen around the city—the ones who are forced to live as pets—her burnt ocher skin developing the blemishes and imperfections that would lead to swift retirement in the Court of Light. To me, she is like a goddess reborn.
Yet I have no idea who she is.

This right here? This is why I play marathon. The fear, the dawning acceptance on her face as I ready the knife, the way her mechanical body mimicks the final exhale of death. This is yuri.

Reading western media is so fucking bleak man, even when its ostensibly liberal ones. No, the reason Somalis are being targetted is not because of fraud its because Republicans are nazis who have targetted them for *decades*. We have more than one movie about murdering Somalis! Come the fuck on!

The Somali community has been targeted by the Trump administration due to a massive pandemic-era fraud scheme that stole hundreds of millions from a federally funded nutrition program. As much as $1 billion is reported to have been stolen in separate plots.

Thinking about them again 😭

Screencap of the movie Arrival. Amy Adams chases her daughter in the most heartwrenching "flashback" you've ever seen in your life. The sound of Johann Johannson's sample of On The Nature of Daylight is playing in your mind now and devastating your emotional state.

Written by @callistokhan.bsky.social before she was invited to write under the Maria Ying penname, the Zeus Constant is a companion novel to the Hades Calculus, giving us the bizarre perspective of Zeus as she struggles with the oncoming collapse of her world. Fans of The Locked Tomb will love.

Also written by Maria Ying (with an amazing Zeus cover by @anemoneart.bsky.social), this collection of short stories explores the city of Elysium prior to the events of The Hades Calculus. A lot of very cool looks into people and places we dont see a lot in the main books.

I guess the place to start off is with the main books, though I doubt anyone seeing this doesn't know this: Written by Maria Ying, a trilogy of books reimagining the Persephone myth in a world where tech and divinity are married. Mecha, cannibalism, hot sex, who could ask for more?

Like shes doing this to a teenager who *checks notes* just witnessed her entire village murdered and was moments away from being rape-murdered by nazis.

A scene of the aformentioned woman calling the victim of a war crime a loser until she shouts "I'll kill them all!!!"

This one's super easy for me because I'm reading Name Her Holy right now for a book club (recced to me originally by @embermoth.prismata.press I believe). This bit from the prologue just absolutely hooked me into the book so hard it knocked the wind outta me

Raiya didn’t run. She never did listen.
Stubbornly, she stayed until the end. Cradling Kye’s head in her lap as though she were a loved one. Not the makeshift caretaker she’d bartered from necessity. The only witness as death came to blot out the insignificant life of Kyrha Liatris.
The disgraced daughter of a noble House left to die in the street, ushered along by the tally of lives she took with her.
At least she could say she didn’t die alone.

Y'all will not BELIEVE the sound I made when I went to confirm that this was a real thing.

picture of a show hog who is killing it, behind which is the trainer who is mean mugging the judge.

Two pictures of a lady hog trainer with the meanest mug you've ever seen. The photographer has chosen two different times to only show us half of her hog.

Two teen girl hog showers who look mildly annoyed at the judges. Their hogs are glorious.

Two more very mean looking teen girl hog showers and their beautiful hogs.
