In March this year, my niece Caitlin-Rose passed away after she was knocked down after getting off her school bus. Her mummy wants to help other children who need the help of emergency care in Caitlin-Rose’s memory.

Racism in Ireland. Unfortunately, gardai only began recording hate crimes and incidents, with categories such as “anti-race”, three years ago. But from the data we do have, we can see reports of racist attacks and abuse has been growing. Link to article in next 🧵

It’s been over a month since this beautiful girl lost her life. An 11 year-old child who stepped off a bus, like thousands do everyday, to go home. Caitlin never made it. We need a change in bus safety in NI. Too many kids, particularly in rural areas, are in danger daily 🧵

I visited Portrane in north County Dublin where homes in The Burrow area have been described as being in ‘critical danger’. Residents told me they have been left in limbo by authorities. One home has already been lost to the sea.

A reminder of @mandymcauley.bsky.social special BBC Spotlight report tonight (10.40pm) on little Kyran Durnin. The 8 year old was last seen alive 2 yrs ago in his hometown of Co Louth. Kyran was only reported missing in August. Tonight, a woman in her 20s was arrested on suspicion of his murder.
