This is along the same lines of the homeopathy people. They are giving medical advice but saying its just free speech. Sure, but doing so has consequences for people following your speech. It's weird that only those in professions (lawyer, Dr, financial advisor) need to say "this isn't X advice"

But AIS data is freely available on the Internet. Unless someone is spoofing transponders, you can see when they go dark and if they popped up somewhere else. So counting them is almost trivial. These big ships don't turn them off willy nilly because it's how they keep from hitting each other.

Also heating oil is pretty much diesel. It's used by some portion of the cold winter states, especially New England where there isn't natural gas available. It'll push general energy costs up a lot.

Groups like Code for America (with regional chapters) are working on this kind of reduction of administrative burden. Can LLMs help? Sure, but not by itself. The "Just Good Enough" machine isn't 100% accurate & can't fill out forms or give advice since a screw up of 1 person's benefits is 1 too many
