Seen at Sarge's Comics in New London, some dope work from @gregpak.net Bought the Lawful #1 for myself. Sarge's is the real deal, friends. Tons and tons of comics vintage and new, mangas, and games galore.
A shelf of comic books, with an orange and black NEW tag hanging from the shelf above. The most prominent and notable comics are a compilation of Lawful from Pak, Galindo, and Kniivila, and also Lawful #1 from the same trio.

The Barreleye fish (Macropinna microstoma) lives 2,434 feet down in the ocean. The green blobs are eyes that usually point up through the transparent head, but can swivel 90° to point toward its mouth.

The fish is 15cm long and is mostly dark-brown/black, except for the top 5/6 of the head, which is transparent! You can see organs and stuff inside the head, notably 2 greenish hemispheres that are its eyes. The things that kind of look like eyes and that are where you might expect eyes to be are more like nostrils.

A person whose beliefs (allegedly Christian principles) allow voting for a cheating lying racist misogynist rapist hateful person 2x for prexy and elsewhere in the piece says she doesn't agree with Talarico's morals? Not voting for Talarico, no chance. 100% will vote for Paxton.
Pam, 66, Republican, white, retired

I am someone who has voted for our current president twice because I didn't feel like I had another choice based on the beliefs I have. But I do believe our current president has caused a lot of the extremes and a lot of the rhetoric and a lot of the issues where people cannot compromise and people can't get along. I personally am just praying that we get better candidates in the future.

If you want to avoid these AI generations of your Instagram posts without switching your account to private, you'll have to dig into the app's settings. Open the Instagram app, tap your profile, and then tap the three lines in the top-right corner of the screen. Then, scroll down to the Sharing and reuse tab. Here is where you should see a section labeled Allow people to use your content on Instagram and with Al features on Meta, with a toggle for Posts and one for Reels.

So exciting! For a fantastic mail-delayed Father's Day gift, the family got me the third of Gnarly Pippins' "Pomological Series", the catalog of the 2021 wild apple exhibition they host every year. Pages and pages of pomological goodness like this. 🍎
Page 56 from Vol 3 of Pomological Exhibitions
MATHILDE
A seeding apple from Stanstead-Est, Québec, Canada. Submitted by Shaun Pett and Leila Ashtari of Pomme Fauve. The multi-trunked mother tree was found growing in a former cow pasture. It is noted as a prolific bearer, and is the oldest of over 50 apple trees in the field. Fruit size small to medium, 2" - 3" average. Roundish, lumpy form, stands somewhat oblique, or lopsided. Lightly ribbed, irregular plan view. Skin smooth, dry, uniform chartreuse ground coat. Cavity obtuse, moderate to shallow depth. Basin abrupt, small, and shallow with an intensely furrowed rim. Stem medium length, exserted, thick, inclined, flared at tip. Lenticels prominent, large, round, dark brown russet. Calyx closed, sepals erect convergent with some wrinkling around eye. Flesh firm, coarse grain, juicy, and tender. Flavor bittersharp. Citrusy front is full of succulent rounded acidity, reminiscent of strong lemon water. Mid-palate and finish have a strong body, velvety tannin and balanced astringency. Ripens late September in its state of origin and can be picked over a long season. Stores well. A cider apple of very good quality.

Finally, from the front page, a reminder that integration, to say nothing of true freedom and equality, has always been fought tooth and nail by white governments at all levels.
Partial article from the front page of the 15 November 1969 Washington Post, titled "Miss. Schools Given Dec.31 To Integrate".
The article notes that the Nixon government wanted to take more time before requiring school integration — to slow-walk enforcement of the October 1969 US Supreme Court ruling requiring immediate school integration unto not actually enforcing it at all.

Below the fold of the Style section (for why?) in the same 1969 paper. Anyone could have known some of what slavery was like. Don't let people lie and say it's brand new knowledge.
Part of an article from the 7 November 1969 Washington Post. The article is titled "Memories of Slave Days." Despite the slightly warm title, the article is about the horrors of enslavement in the USA, from oral histories of formerly enslaved people.

Buster Keaton appears in some of his films in an undershirt or shirtless, and you can see how for the time he was really athletic. Wiry and small (5'2" IIRC), but fitter than other stars who didn't do their own stunts like he did.

A still from the movie "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin". In the foreground, a figure seen from the thighs up and from the back is wearing black pants and a wide yellow belt. Their arms are outstretched to the sides and each hand is holding a wide, short sword. In the background, a row of people wearing saffron-yellow robes. In the middle ground a person holding a staff in with their arms also outstretched, but vertically. He is wearing white spats-looking cloths and black pants.
