Bad news for the U.S. who has rolled back investments in green energy, thanks to Trump. The rest of the world will leapfrog the U.S. setting the country back for a generation or more.

I have this same thought all the time. Ford's Nixon pardon -> Trump And don't forget, some of the same people involved in Watergate helped get Trump elected (e.g. Roger Stone). And the idea of Fox News was born out of the minds of the salty losers of Watergate.

I suspect Putin whispered this to him, knowing that Trump privately understands the spike in oil prices is bad for him. Putin is good at manipulating people, and Trump is easily manipulated. So he's co-opting Trump's Iran problem to turn him against Ukraine. And none of Trump's yesmen will tell him.

Many would, e.g. those with Republican Secretaries of State and Governors.

Before calling someone a “dirtbag,” the Senator should have had his facts straight. An apology is in order. Glad one of us knew the difference between the Atlanta Hawks and the Iowa Hawkeyes!

I'm not sure if the combative pro-impeachment folks on BlueSky are really right-wingers trolling, or misguided lefties who can't handle opinions not 100% aligned with theirs, but I've had to mute/block two in recent days because they get angry, twist words and lie rather than discuss and debate.

Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
You are. They make this choice every day. It's called out here on BlueSky every day, with news clips highlighting it.

The J6 impeachment failed, and that was the closest we had to any Republicans actually wanting to oust him. If the J6 impeachment failed, why would a lesser impeachment succeed? Impeachments are quasi-judicial political things. You need political pressure on those voting to impeach & convict.

You are lying about me. Why? No need to extrapolate and alienate. You're just like the last person I ended up blocking because they resorted to name calling and lies when they couldn't have a mature disucssion.

Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
And you're also a rando, with no evidence that impeachment is fruitful. You've started with the assumption that your way is the right way and attack anything that is not aligned. You are not helping your cause.

Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
How do you get rid of one with impeachment but WITHOUT CONVICTION & REMOVAL? Impeachment is the beginning of a political process, one which we know the current political climate does not favor. If Americans show up and vote blue, it will tilt Congress and send the GOP a message. Then you impeach.

N=2 is indeed small. I larger N would give more confidence. But I still believe conducting those experiments has a public perception cost. I know you disagree. We can agree to disagree. I won't even be mad if they try again. I'm just not clamoring for it because I think it's counter productive.

Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
You don't need an impeachment for that. If Democrats can take the house, they can start having public committee hearings and bring I witnesses to testify.

Nothing? Except 100% of the Trump impeachments? And the vociferous support GOP congresspeople give in their public statements every day?

Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
SCOTUS emboldened him too, sure. But learning a GOP majority would protect him no matter what? That also did. Impeachment is political, not just legal. It depends entirely on whether Congress can be persuaded to convict. That requires political pressure from voters.

Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
You're missing my point. If there were no downsides to dozens of failed impeachments, then yes, try and try again. I believe that piling on dozens of failed impeachments will make the public numb and embolden and armor Trump.

Again with your extremes and alienation. 🙄

"The cost of trying is zero" I disagree. Which is why I think it is a harder choice than you do. I've already explained this.

Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Your single-mindedness is your shortcoming, IMO. I agree with fighting, public pressure, protesting, etc. I'm just disagreeing that more impeachments without removal would be beneficial. That's it. So I'm going to keep fighting too, but without alienating potential allies and with pragmatism.

How many impeachments did Nixon survive?
000
Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Agreed. Two things to note: It was threat of impeachment that scared Nixon. That does not scare Trump. It was enough people in his own party willing to turn on him. We do not have that today.
000
Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
He was acquitted once. Not twice. And not a dozen times, which is what would happen under your proposal. Dodging removal a dozen times would further armor Trump.
200
Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
No, trying was correct. Both were impeachable offenses. The morally correct thing to do would've been to convict and remove him, but we learned there are too many that put party over country. We know many understood what Trump did was wrong, but feared for their career and party more, empowering DJT

Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
As I said elsewhere, IMPEACHMENT without REMOVAL, especially REPEATEDLY SO, is actually counter-productive. It sends the exact opposite signal. You may disagree. You've shown nothing to change my point of view. All you've done is repeated yourself, and made incorrect insinuations about my beliefs.
200
Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
You claimed, "Why are you so insistent that our elected reps should lie to us?" I've not insisted any such thing. But you think arguing this way is fruitful, but it's not.
100
Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
You're missing the point still. When a president is IMPEACHED but not REMOVED, it sends a signal to the lay person that the president is INNOCENT. This is not what it actually means, but how the public receives it. And that emboldens the President.

Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
You keep putting words in my mouth. Your abrasive style is why so many people block you and mute you. This is further evidence that you just don't get it. The world is bot as black & white as you think it is, and humans are far less rational than your approach is suited for. Argue elsewhere.

Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Repeated impeachments is not how you reach them. You, and others in this thread, have enumerated lots of ways that aren't impeachment. Republicans are very effective at getting their message out, and they're not impeaching anyone (certainly not repeatedly).
300
Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Agreed. And none of those things listed are impeachment.

Which 15 hate him enough to vote against the leader of MAGA?
100
Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
You can repeat that through news cycles, advertisements, speeches. You don't need impeachments to get the ideas into circulation. McDonalds and Coca Cola didn't need impeachment advertising.
100
Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Agree to disagree. Repetition without results is how people get worn out and stop paying attention.
100
Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
I'm not pretending there isn't evidence. I'm saying the public will get bored with what bubbles up through their news sources when theres yet-another-imeachment. The problems with the impeachments was never lack of evidence (even if there was more). Republicans lack a spine.
100
Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
This is just silly. Pelosi was no perfect savior, but if you're arguing she was in cahoots with Trump, then we're done.
100
Trinition @trinition.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
I disagree. What emboldened him was knowing that Republicans wouldn't ever let him be removed. He views it as surviving an assassination attempt. The Democrats tried to remove him, but his loyal Republicans protected him. That showed him he can do whatever he wants.

I agree with that idea, but flooding the zone with dozens of impeachments would end up with headlines like, "Democrats try yet another hopeless impeachment". The impeachment process needs to be poignant, not dilute.

Kushner also said Ukraine's unwillingness to give up some of its land is impeding peace. I wonder if Russia promised them mineral rights to that land.
