In the aftermath of what should have been the end of the world, an angel digs his nails into the bruised flesh over his most devoted servant’s heart.

Sharp feather-like tendrils peel from his skin in thin glowing curves. They sink into the cooling body beneath him, sliding through abused muscle and broken bone, latching on to the countless metal threads already woven throughout. They slip past the brain stem, flutter in the mess of gray and white matter, coil around a crumpled unwelcome thing. They push it out with a revulsive squelch.

And the angel says, “I don’t recall giving you permission to die, Bluesummers.”

“We meet again, Vash the Stampede.” The low, cool voice of Legato Bluesummers drifts menacingly through cinnamon and nutmeg scented air.

“Legato. I was wondering when you’d appear.” Vash pushes up his glasses, slowly turning to meet his fate. “You don’t usually—oh, wow! That’s really festive.”

Legato has leaned one shoulder against the kitchen doorway. He’s wearing a white sweater with a minimalist design of little black skulls connected to each other by a thin line that swoops across the collar and cuffs to evoke string lights.

“Thank you,” Legato says. He lifts a hand, crooking his fingers as if manipulating invisible threads. “I made it myself.”

022

Trigun Secret Santa 2025 @trigunsecretsanta.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

Another question, this time asking if specific canons will be required. Canon will not be a tag we are matching on so you can create work set in any of the three Trigun canons you prefer or even set in an AU.

021

Trigun Secret Santa 2025 @trigunsecretsanta.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

However you only have to include ships or characters that you included in your offer in your final gift for your recipient. You will have at least one ship or character in common with the request you are assigned.

021

Trigun Secret Santa 2025 @trigunsecretsanta.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

One more thought! You may be matched with someone who also requested ships that make you uncomfortable or that you don't want to write. That is just a hazard of the way this exchange is run.

111

Trigun Secret Santa 2025 @trigunsecretsanta.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

I did want to add an addendum to this, I will be checking the works as they are added to ensure that none of the requester's DNWs were included in the work. If they were, I will contact the creator and ask if they are able/willing to edit the work and if they are not it will be sent for pinch hit.

021

Trigun Secret Santa 2025 @trigunsecretsanta.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

With that said, we did not have any issues related to this in the Vash Birthday Exchange. The matching timeline may be overly optimistic but any delays will be communicated to the participants ASAP.

110

Trigun Secret Santa 2025 @trigunsecretsanta.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

3. You may get work that you are not 100% comfortable with, that is a risk in any exchange! The exchange will never require you to create something that you don't feel comfortable writing, however nothing is perfect and your gift might not be exactly what you want.

221

Trigun Secret Santa 2025 @trigunsecretsanta.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

2. prompts are not binding, if you do not feel comfortable writing any of your assignment's prompts you can either contact me and we will get that assignment pinch hit or you can simply write something unrelated to the prompts but still including the characters and/or ships in the assignment.

111

Trigun Secret Santa 2025 @trigunsecretsanta.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

with that request will be required to abide by those DNWs. We do not have an option for writers to include what they do not feel comfortable writing, for a few reasons: 1. Offers are inclusive not exclusive, meaning that you only need to offer ships and characters you feel comfortable writing.

111

Trigun Secret Santa 2025 @trigunsecretsanta.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

I am planning on matching this just like I did the Vash Birthday Exchange which was matched on ships/characters. Creators were not allowed to include ships that were not included in their assignment. Requesters can indicate do not wants (DNWs) in their request and the creator that is matched

111

Trigun Secret Santa 2025 @trigunsecretsanta.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

We received a question on the interest check regarding turnaround time with matching and how that relates to people potentially having squicks/etc.
