The Lincoln-based fleet of Stagecoach East Midlands includes two ADL Enviro200s which are painted in the latest ‘Steel Blue’ livery - 37199 (YN64 GVA) and 37203 (YN64 GVF). Both were pictured in Lincoln on October 2.

Sometimes a photoshoot comes together by coincidence. At St Ives P&R site today Stagecoach East Volvo B8RLE 21304 carrying the latest Busway livery/branding was parked behind Volvo B7RLE 21222 with the older style of livery/branding. We also managed a tree-framed pic of 21304

There are three Stagecoach East Scania/Enviro400s based at Fenstanton, and used on the Cambridgeshire Busway, which are painted in 'Local' livery rather than Busway colours. They are 15200/18/20 with 15200 pictured after leaving Swavesey on October 8.

Thanks to some really great feedback we have been advised that the train was booked for a Class 33 so a regular Friday northbound working, returning south on the Sunday. The loco being taken and stabled at Banbury over the weekend

Class 47 47082 taking the train forward from Birmingham. It is understood the 33 was sent to Saltley to recover from its long-distance run before taking over the 15:11 Leeds-Portsmouth Harbour (1O92) from 45003 on Sunday September 19.

A relatively rare appearance of a Class 33 ‘Crompton' at Birmingham New Street. 33028 arrived in the West Midlands on September 17 1982 with 1E22, 12:46 Portsmouth Harbour to Leeds, which it worked throughout from Portsmouth to Birmingham.

Crewe Works in April 1986 and looking resplendent is recently fitted with ETH equipment is Class 47/4 47647 ‘Thor’. It was new as D1677 becoming 47091 under the TOPS renumbering. It was later renumbered 47846 when fitted with extended fuel tanks and later still became 57308

Fully painted and awaiting application of large logos and numbers. Class 56 No. 56125 was pictured at Crewe Works on September 18 1983. Following final testing it was released to service on October 20 1983.

During my time in railway PR, dry ice was frequently used to give a smoke effect to enhance the reveal. When Railfreight launched its new identity at Ripple Lane in 1987 the locomotives provided their own smoke, which wasn’t part of the plan!

It must have been a fairly cool June day on June 11 1985 given the signs of an active steam heat boiler on Class 37/0 No. 37012 ‘Loch Rannoch’ as it waits at the head of 1Y23, the 16:50 departure to Fort William. Passengers would no doubt appreciate the heat later on in the journey.

Before Stagecoach introduced route specific liveries for its Park & Ride services in Cambridge it used a red & cream livery in an updated version the Millerbus livery,who operated them prior to being taken over by Stagecoach. Stagecoach bought new Volvo B10Ms and Dennis Darts.

Branding that never happened. This was from a Stagecoach Group press announcement when the then new livery was announced in 2000. The Press Images had this graphic of how low floor vehicles would be promoted and used the Peterborough version as an example

December 16 2004 and the Stagecoach open top Bristol FLF 19952 (JAH 552D), which at the time was based at Northampton, is pictured at London’s Euston Station on December 16 2004. Alas the vehicle failed before doing a Virgin Trains PR Team London Lights tour and needed recovery.

Nikon had launched the D100 digital camera with six megapixels a few months earlier and the results were really good. On June 21 2002 I took this shot of Stagecoach’s former Eastern Counties open top Bristol FLF (JHA 552D) in a typical village setting in Elton with a service to Oundle.

One of the more unusual vehicles to be used by Stagecoach Cambus on Cambridge Park & Ride services were five Volvo B10BLEs with Plaxton Prestige bodywork. They came from Stagecoach Manchester and were later swapped for MAN/ALX300s from the North East. Pictured 301 (P601 JBU).

A visit was made to Melton Ross, Peak Forest and Great Rocks on August 2 1990. Pictured at Peak Forest was Class 37/4 37411 ‘The Institution of Railway Signal Engineers’. We think the other image, busy with Class 37s (unable to locate details) was taken in the Great Rocks area.

We made one of our regular visits to BREL’s Doncaster Works on August 15 1989 having has a message that the overhaul and Railfreight Metals repaint of Class 37/5 37501 ‘Teesside Steelmaster’ had been completed and it was ready for release to traffic.

Pictured stored at Grangemouth on August 1st 1987 are Class 27/0s 27058 and 27064. Two days later they would start their journey south heading for Vic Berry’s yard at Leicester where they were cut up. Both locos had been withdrawn on May 12th the previous year.

Tigers were prowling Cambridge city centre today with 2 Stagecoach East 'Tiger'-branded Enviro400s on city services. 19702 spent the day on 1s and 3s with 19701 heading out of service into the city just after mid-day to take up duties on service 2. 19702 has an Azure blue front. 19701 is all white.

A revised livery (well branding) has been introduced by Stagecoach East for Busway vehicles. Volvo B8RLEs 21304/07 first to receive it - B7RLE 21303 last to receive old branding. New scheme reduces repaint costs and also cost of making good old branding which was prone to damage

Amongst the first colour transparencies we took in 1977, using a basic Cosmic Symbol camera with a fixed lens, was also our first photo of a Class 44 ‘Peak’ The date was May 24 1977 and the location Peterborough. The locomotive was 44008, which by that time has lost its ‘Penyghent’ nameplates.

On April 23 1994 ‘Dutch’-liveried Class 31/5 31558 was named 'Nene Valley Railway' at the preserved line’s Orton Mere Station. The naming marked the completion of a new platform at the station which had been built by BR Infrastructure Services following a competitive tender.

Enviro400 19007 (MX06 XAG) now with Stagecoach East Midlands is currently earmarked for donation to charity. It was new to Stagecoach Manchester in July 2006 but on July 24 2006 it was in Cambridge - along with the Stagecoach-owned stagecoach - to showcase plans to upgrade the Park & Ride services

An official photo supplied by British Rail's Civil Engineering Department shows Class 26036 at Perth following its repainting into the Civil Engineer's 'Dutch' livery. It was one of around four images that were taken to show the 'Dutch' livery on various types of locomotive.

Daimler Fleetline CRG6LX/Alexander A-type LHA 616F was new to Midland Red as its 6116 (classified DD12) in December 1967 passing to Midland Red East in 1981 It spent its entire life in Leicestershire Between May 1981 and withdrawal in November 1983 it carried an all over advert for National Holidays

An undated view at Nuneaton of Class 87/1 87101 ‘Stephenson’ shows the driver looking back before getting the ‘Right Away’ with a northbound express. The lack of a crest above the nameplate confirms that it is dated pre-May 1982, with the nameplates applied in October 1977.

In failing light on February 12 1983, Class 31/1 31321 heads 1E79 15:08 Birmingham New Street- Cambridge at Galley Common (west of Nuneaton). It is understood there were issues with the steam heating and the 31 was removed at Leicester with Class 37/0 37038 taking the train forward.

It was not until the film had been developed that I realised the exposure had captured the strong sunlight illuminating NSE 4-VEP 3521 as it formed the rear of a London-bound train at Clapham Junction on September 11 1990 against a rather dark and threatening sky (Original image - only dust removed)

A basic telephoto lens was used to capture Class 31/1 31294 as it hauled a trainload of Ketton cement wagons on the Nuneaton Avoiding Line on May 31 1983. It was pictured from the north end of platforms 4 and 5 at Nuneaton station. The avoiding line linked Midland Junction with Abbey Junction.

On June 12 1991 Railfreight Construction-branded Class 60 60006 ‘Great Gable’ heads east in the Three Horseshoes area between Whittlesea and March with a train of Redland wagons. The Brush-built locomotive had been accepted into service just two months earlier.

An immaculate Class 73/1 73112 and an equally smart 4CEP unit 1545 at Ashford on April 3 1990. The train had worked as a special from Canterbury West following the naming of the Class 73 ‘University of Kent at Canterbury’ to mark the Silver Jubilee of the University.

According to our records almost two thirds of the Stagecoach East allocation at Bedford 64% (41 vehicles) are now in the Steel Blue livery. That leaves 21 buses in 'Local' livery and two in orange 'distance' livery.

Confirmation from Stagecoach Midlands that Heritage Fleet Routemaster 19938 (SMK 738F) has transferred to Stagecoach South and there is also a suggestion that Volvo B10M/Alexander PS 20215 (N215 TDU) may also be staying with Stagecoach South following loan for Goodwood operations

On Sunday August 19 1979 West Midlands PTE’s former Coventry Transport Daimler CVG 333Y (333 CRW) was taken on a photo tour around Coventry, Bedworth and Nuneaton. It is pictured in Galley Common, Nuneaton. On August 24th it became the last rear entrance bus to operate in Coventry

Passengers leave a Cravens (Class 105) two car DMU at Nottingham on April 28th 1984. The illuminated station signs were still carrying the 'Nottingham Midland' station name. The DMU formed 51284 and 54458 was at the time allocated to Lincoln depot
