When school subjects come easily, our first response can be to say “you’re so smart”. But success on the first try just means the student didn’t have to work hard or learn many new concepts or facts to succeed. Focus more on effort and strategies used instead of high scores for healthier self-image.

Procrastination can be a symptom of perfectionism, self-doubt, or feeling overwhelmed. Tools such as timelines and someone to check in with can provide the supports students need to complete assignments.
