Look at the maps. The original British Mandate area included land on both sides of the Jordan River. In 1922, Britain used Article 25 of the Mandate to exclude Transjordan from the Jewish National Home provisions. That land became the Arab Emirate of Transjordan, later the Kingdom of Jordan.
