So, I uh found a new plane spotting spot...took some pics with my camera but won't know how they turned out for a few days.

Figured out what I did wrong on my last roll of film and I'll be honest, not much makes me feel stupid, but film photography certainly seems to achieve it. There's a cheat sheet for focal distance and aperture printed right on the outside of the lense....

Can someone more skilled in film photography (preferably on an older model of camera) explain to me how to intuitively figure range out without a built in rangefinder? When I set range to infinity great no problems but when I try to play with the range 98% of the pictures are blurry and out of focus

Some 35mm pictures I took that were almost good enough, but just didn't hit the mark for me:

Oh my god I'm so happy. The owner of the local camera store I go to for my film and development just called me this morning to pick up this beauty! Ive been looking for a Kodak Retina 2 but they are hard to come by. However in his personal collection that he uses for the college students he had a

I was finally fast enough on the "Be My Eyes" app to answer a call. It ended up being an accidental call but in the best way (he accidentally opened the app in the background) I was able to help direct him safely to someone waiting at the end of his driveway. He was just THE sweetest older gentleman

Oneday gen AI will fail completely and everyone who relied it for everything will realize that they have no learned skills, can't memorize basic information and can't even think for themselves without it. It will be a legitimate humanitarian crisis. Mark my words.

There's something so surreal about looking back on the events I experienced 25 years ago. I lived a little over an hour from DC, in the town where the VP lived. That day the president decided to set up a command center in my tiny town which made the whole place paranoid that we were going to be next

Myself and 4 lucky plane spotters got a personal flyover today at the airport by two AH-1Z Vipers. They could have landed after approach but after seeing a few of us taking pictures one of them turned toward us and did a low pass, with the other then following, before coming back around to land.

Got my hands on an Ansco 2A camera today from the 1920s! Doesn't work perfectly, definitely needs a little repair so the shutter opens and closes cleanly but hey $20 is a decent deal!

Well, I got my first roll of 5 Kodak Brownie photos back from the lab. I learned a valuable lesson about focal distance and lighting when shooting on something this old...but I also had one resounding success of a photo, which I'll take! . #filmphotography #kodak #BnWfilm

I'm so damn heart broken. Rocky Horror is a staple in our town, you can usually find a shadow cast (or rocky themed event) happening at least 2-3 times a year. I have been part of or attended many of these over the past decade and I just want to cry.

A couple from Paris recently opened a restaurant in town and we finally (after a months long wait list) got to try it, and it was amazing! With the bill they give everyone a cute little postcard with things to do in France, which I just love (especially offering to give more suggestions via email).

Welp I have officially dropped off my first roll of 120 B&W film, that I took with the Kodak Brownie, to get developed. I know one of the five photos was messed up, but let's hope the other four turned out. If so I will share the results!

I think these might be my 10 favorite photos that my grandfather took during his time deployed to Europe, post WWII hostilities. Still digitizing hundreds of photos but having seen all the negatives, I think these will remain the most visually striking ones to me.

No one can tell me sailor moon is for girls, cuz then tell me why the electrician at my house today came in the room we were watching it in, said "I LOVE SAILOR MOON that was my first anime!" In the *thickest* southern accent I have heard in a while and walked out. LMAO.

One of my Pokémon TCG friends showed up to league today with 7 of the cards I needed to master set fossil! I could cry! (They brought 4 holos and the norm dragonite too but I had them already so turned those down). All they asked for was my Triumphant #017 ditto & my Delta Species #034 castform <3

Deciding to make that dedicated IG to archive all the digitized photos my grandfather took post WWII hostilities has been so much more entertaining than I anticipated. I've been adding captions to posts using his memoir and journal, and my grandfather is unintentionally so funny in his writings.

An old photo of 4 young men in WWII army peacoats standing topside of a transport ship with a caption reading "Thursday Jan 16th: Took pictures at night of land- slept most the night cold and wet.
Friday Jan 17th: passed white cliffs named Land's End in England. Got sick that afternoon.
Saturday Jan 18th: Sick, rough seas.
Sunday Jan 19th: Sick, rough seas- rain.
Monday Jan 20th: Sick. Rough.
Tuesday Jan 21st: 20th birthday. Still sick.
Wednesday Jan 22nd: Still sick. Rough.
Thursday Jan 23rd: Still sick. Rough.
Friday Jan 24th: A little better, ate 1 meal today. Still rough.
Saturday Jan 25th: Feel good. Nice day." -Augie Palmisano (Via personal journal)

Oh and as a lover of the B-17, casually finding out in this memoir that my grandfather almost ended our whole family line via a B-17 engine failure was quite the read. Really giving that flying coffin nickname a reason to exist haha.

Also now have an entire tin of negatives from WWII thanks to him having the foresight to stick each one behind the printed photo in his photo albums. Some of the photos look to have been lost over time so maybe there's some negatives of photos I haven't seen yet.

Today everyone in my family simultaneously learned that during basic training in Mississippi my grandfather and friends hunted and killed a wild boar with spears because they couldn't smoke lmao. (Just found his typed out memoir that he wrote as a soldier in WWII).

A page typed on 80 year old paper reading: "We weren't allowed to smoke after dark so we just sat around for a while. Then we heard noises in the woods. We found a wild boar and after an hours chase we spared it with wooden spears. That night we pulled guard duty and here is what we had to do stand around and not talk or smoke."

I need everyone to stop and look at what I just found at an antique store for FOURTEEN DOLLARS. There is literally nothing wrong with it. In fact not only does it have every piece both inside and out, all the pieces function still, for a camera over 100yrs old this thing is PRISTINE!
