We asked Alai Ganuza to build a Painting Kit around the tools she actually uses. She chose the brushes, custom handle colors and tools, and even designed the collector box herself. The Alai Ganuza x Trekell Painting Kit is officially here. #OilPainting #ArtSupplies

Greg “Craola” Simkins started this painting with memories of vintage cartoons and let one idea lead to another. A moon led to a song. The song led to a title. The title led to an airplane. What usually sparks your painting ideas? #Trekell #AcrylicPainting

Kai Lun Qu doesn’t paint every individual hair to make fur feel believable. He starts with larger shapes and values, then adds just enough detail to create the illusion of fur. What’s the hardest part of painting fur for you? #Trekell #Watercolor #PaintingTips

A painting starts with more than the paint. The surface underneath it matters too. We use Baltic birch for our wood panels because it gives artists a smooth, stable surface to build on, whether the finished piece is highly detailed or full of texture. What do you look for in a painting surface?

😈🎨🦇 My first attempt at making custom frames using my birch panels from @trekell.bsky.social was pretty damn successful! They're not perfect, but I had so much fun learning & doing all the various steps: wood embellishments, sanding, taping, & spray painting! & the next ones will be even better!
Seven custom frames of various sizes and designs with wooden embellishments added to them and then spray painted silver, gold, rose gold, and black.

Danica Sills chooses her panel first, then lets its shape lead the composition. For her, a Coffin Panel can open up an entire tree of ideas. What shape would spark an idea for you? #Trekell #Painting #ArtistProcess

Carlo Miranda had never painted crochet before, so he experimented. Instead of painting every stitch, he focused on the larger shapes, values and patterns that create the illusion of texture. What’s a texture you’ve always wanted to try painting? #Trekell #OilPainting #PaintingTips

Not all soft brushes behave the same. Golden Taklon, Spectrum, Sienna, Legion and Mop brushes each bring something different to the painting process. Eric Johnson puts them to work and shows where each one shines. Which soft brush do you reach for most? #Trekell #ArtSupplies #Painting

How much of your painting style comes from the brushes you know best? Trekell Pro Team Artists James Ormiston and Alex Garant swapped brushes and had to rethink how they worked. Would you try a brush swap?

Trekell Pro Team Artist Josh Sorrell painted Defiant with just 3 brushes, letting some of his favorite early marks survive to the finished piece. Do you leave a brushstroke alone when it works, or keep messing with it? #OilPainting #PortraitPainting #ArtTips #Trekell

One painting, four very different jobs for a brush. Trekell Pro Team Artist Julie Beck changes tools as her painting develops, from bold early marks to fine details and removing paint. Do you switch brushes as you paint, or stick with the same few?

Our Stamp Panel started with an idea from Trekell Pro Team Artist Lizzy Gass. Then we handed that same shape to Sandra Sanchez and she took it somewhere completely different. What would you paint on a postage stamp shaped panel?

The Oval Floater Panel has been part of the Trekell lineup for years, and we still love seeing the different ways artists make the shape part of the composition. Stefani Rabideaux's latest piece is a perfect example. How would you use an oval differently than a traditional rectangle?

Some ideas are too good not to make. Our Stamp Panel started with an idea from artist Lizzy Gass, and after a lot of requests, it's finally back. We can't wait to see what artists create with it. trekell.pulse.ly/wublkqexfy

Every artist has a reason for reaching for a particular brush. In our latest blog, Justin Donaldson shares why the Legion Long Filbert has become a favorite for his gouache landscapes and how it helps him move effortlessly from broad shapes to fine details. trekell.pulse.ly/aesvfts48f

Alex Garant creates her signature illusion paintings with just three brushes. Together, we built a limited edition set around the exact brushes she reaches for in every painting. If you could design your own three-brush set, what would be in it? #ArtistsOnBluesky #OilPainting #Painting

This might be one of our favorite panel transformations. Mab Graves turns a Trekell Floater Panel into a handcrafted frame that becomes part of the artwork itself. Do you usually buy your frames or make your own? #ArtistsOnBluesky #MixedMedia #ArtProcess

Lauri Haario created this watercolor cherry tree using just three Trekell Protégé brushes. We love seeing how artists get so much range from a simple toolkit. If you could only paint with three brushes, which ones would make the cut? #Watercolor #Painting #ArtistsOnBluesky
