Watchin recent JomezPro Kristin Latt vid... I remember when Kristin was dominating, so long ago, better times way back then... I remember when mental struggles visible in her game.. "And when 2025 started, I was like 'okay, this is the last year of the contract'" 😶2025, that was last year.. WTF!!!

New paper w/ Kevin Meyer & Kenny Liao in J. of Agricultural & Resource Economics What's the value of a golf course near NYC worth? 🥏We used a travel cost model (revealed + stated preference + UDisc data) on FDR & Heckscher State Parks. Result: ~$68/trip, ~$6M/year 🗽 #economics #discgolf #udisc

Gotta pay attention to the courses on coverage this upcoming year, figure out which ones I really like to watch. Maple Hill is definitely one of them (currently watching Cosmic Open) I do wish coverage would include what the course and layout is being used, even if they are temporary.

Flying discs, nobody knows what brand or plastics. Roswell. There's a joke in there somewhere, maybe filed under X. Doesn't look to be PDGA sanctioned (just a 9 hole tourney), but I hope it does well. I always hope to see the sport grow in NM.

Was a fun tourney for sure. I was squarely at the bottom of the leaderboard throughout, but I learned some key things and maybe increased my rating, so take the wins as they come, eh? Bit of a brutal pairing of courses, with 9 DNFs overall.

Weather shifted, no rain and calm for first round. Playing at Dexter first. Both courses (Stewart Pond is course two) are a lovely mix of wooded and open shots. Both have significant elevation change shots as well. Round 1 is about to start. :)

Wish me luck #discgolf folks. About to play in the biggest tourney I've ever been in. B-tier, 144 players, and while I usually play MA4, it doesn't exist here so my first MA3 card. On top of that, ~10MPH winds and rain in the forecast. Oh, boy.

Rainers ended up just short of the win, but he can hold his head high after a brilliant run at the most coveted title in our sport. Help us celebrate his stunning charge at Worlds with the all-new Rainers Balodis Duo Teebird! dis.cr/4gUIytm #discgolf

On the topic of foot faults (what a topic these days 😶), am I understanding correctly that you need a supporting foot planted at disc release? Or is it just that you can't cross lie? If I putt jumping straight up 4", but didn't move forward + stable landing, is that a fault? #discgolf #footfault

I think it would be pretty amusing if someone only saw a disc golf warmup clip and their takeaway was that the sport consisted of throwing "frisbees" really hard at big nets 2 meters away. 🤣

#discgolf - do you play on courses where the tee pads do not point to the baskets? What do you do to overcome the disorientation? How successful have you been? (if you're affected by it, I've recently found that I'm _very_ affected by misaligned tees)

are elevated baskets next to water features just super evil or what? #discgolf

Weekend before last I played a tourney in Sisters, Oregon. Then a lightning storm lit up much of Oregon and now one of the fires creeping in on Sisters :( I'm not close to there now, but the whole state is a tinderbox. Best hopes to you, Sisters, may favorable weather find its way to you soon!

Hawk contemplating a throw in on hole 18 of Stewart Pond. It's the kind of elevated basket that requires wings. (sorry i didnt get the basket in the pic, i was trying to not spook the bird) #discgolf

neat that elevation is the front and center conversation for the #uswdgc. when i played with a pretty decent elevation change last weekend, my flippiest putter would not turn at all.. felt so weird #discgolf

a terrible #discgolf constant: by tee 17 i'm fist bumping and like "i did it! i'm finally starting to unlock the secrets of form!!!" by tee 1 the next time i get to play "Y kant i threw a fizzbee :("

This thread had a specific slant, but it's still an interesting question. To add to the thought experiment, is there a difference in parents or household, and how do you think that impacts the answer??

Nothing is both as horrendously infuriating and magnificently exhilarating as having an errant #discgolf throw send you straight into a tree/shrub jail and then finding and hitting that one tiny, perfect gap that gets you back on the green (even better if you get forward movement).

Hey Oregon #discgolf folk, the NADGT finale is coming up. The listing on PDGA is wrong :(. The tournament will be a two day (Aug 1,2), two course (Wheatland (Willamette Mission), Keizer Rapids) tournament. Hoping to see more folks fill the roster. www.discgolfscene.com/tournament/2...

I'd forgotten about this #discgolf vid. I think what I'm seeing here is my upcoming tourney elevation change of ~2500 ft likely won't change my fairway and lower discs flights tooo much, but I should bring my old overflippy DX plastic distance drivers just in case. www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0GY...

Two things hooked me hard on #discgolf. 1st-playing: chasing 250, 300, 350, then maybe 400; selecting the right disc to accomplish that clutch shot; shaping the line perfectly. 2nd-even better, collecting courses: Playing in gorgeous settings, exploring new places What a fantastic sport.

#Tournament playing #discgolf folk: When you play a tourney, are you focusing on what place you get or are you focusing more on your resulting rating? I'm curious if anyone thinks about the difference between the two during tourney play and if the difference has any impact on the game.

I really, really wish all #discgolf #tournament coverage would consistently list the date, course, layout name, and basket distances. Seems like an easy way to increase engagement.

Headin to a tourney in Sisters Oregon next week, few thousand feet higher in elevation than i'm used to. A bit worried about how badly it's going to kill my rare turns, and just dump all the discs on heavy fade. We'll see how it goes. #discgolf
