Important info from our friends at Trees Winnipeg: "An urgent appeal to water your trees! Winnipeg has received about one-third of the precipitation that it normally does at this point in the year, and there is no significant rainfall in the forecast as we head into the hottest weeks. ..."
A graphic showing "How to Water a Tree"

Young Trees: water at least twice every week (about 5 gallons of water)

Mature Trees: Water within the drop line at least once every week

Exposed trees: Water either in the early morning of after the sun has set

Apply mulch to decrease soil temperature and minimize water evaporation

In times of drought, provide water directly using a hose or a 5-gallon bucket.

Water slowly to enable soil absorption and prevent run-off

Conserve and recycle water

Dear Mr. Mayor and Councillors:

My name is Erna Buffie, and I am writing on behalf of Trees Please Winnipeg in support of the expropriation and rezoning of the Lemay Forest. Given that Tochal Developments has turned down two generous offers to purchase the Lemay forest, I am urging you to vote “Yes,” to expropriation of that land for the following reasons:
