PSA : Spotify has a playlist of Walmart's in store music. No more spending extra time at the store just to keep listening to those bangers.

I wrote this NASA page about wildfires and climate change, and I'm so excited it's finally live. It's a tireless effort to get big pages published at NASA - as it should be! How long will it remain up? Who knows. Check it out while you still can. 🧪 #climatesky science.nasa.gov/wildfires-an...

Conversation during *every* #NFL game I watch: Anyone else in the room: "Wow, I wonder what the temperature is there?" Would be great if networks would post the weather conditions on/near the score bar.

In an alternate universe, Senate Republicans would be rejecting RFK, Jr outright, on principle. Here on Earth, we at least need Senate Democrats to hold the line and make clear that an anti-vax, anti-science conspiracist is not fit to run federal health programs. www.cbsnews.com/boston/video...

I would just like to applaud all of the creativity I've seen in college football and the #NFL this season. People may hate on the "trick plays", but I appreciate the novel approaches I've seen to gain yards. 👏👏 Let's go #FightingIrish

Tell me you're nerdy without telling me...I'll start: Goal: text "happy new year" to someone. Me: "happy..." Autocomplete: "mole day"

Same. I'll admit that I dozed off watching this one, though. Holiday hangover perhaps :)

Did your lesson consist primarily of observing that different metals produce different flame colors? Or did you also connect to energy levels for electrons?

Ah, 2 TO...OK, I didn't know that. Me, watching the game while cleaning the kitchen, going "what are they doing?" 😂

For any #NFL friends...why didn't the Chargers just kneel at the end of the game last night?

I've been a physics educator for 15-ish years, and I *still* struggle to spell "buoyant." Literally every time: *spells slowly* "wait...is that right?" Anyone else have a word in their field that they second-guess themselves on???

I had a "physics word wall" that was really the representations we used for each model. I started adding words like "magnitude" to the wall in the section that they appeared, then later just had a whole other section for just "physics words" Old photo for reference (sans vocab words).

What is the Kepler lab? My experience with a lab like this is for circular motion, but not Kepler specifically. I'm intrigued.

One of the central jobs of everyone who works in education but is not a classroom teacher should be ensuring classroom teachers have enough (time, energy, knowledge, training, resources). If you nurture and value teachers, you nurture and value the children in front of them.

Marilyn Vos Savant wrote about this in 1990 and was highly criticized. Later, MIT ran computer simulations confirming her answer, leading some of her critics (academic PhD folks) to apologize. She blames the sit-n-get nature of education for *why* so many fail to properly think thru the solution

Hey friends! Join me in Utah this summer for a modeling workshop in physics! Super excited to co-lead this with Kyle Dittmer. And if you're a chem person, Scott Milam will be there for chemistry. Check the link for more info! www.eweblife.com/prm/AMTA/cal...

Cool! One comment....what about "this is too hard" rather than "this is hard"? I like that the complement to it is "this takes work", but I personally think that it's OK for things to be hard sometimes. Perhaps it's the coach/athlete coming out in me here 😂

Someone told me this today, and it was powerful, so I thought I would share in case anyone else needs to hear this too: "Don't let your areas for growth cause you to disqualify yourself for something you are highly capable of. Lean into it."

Likely not a helpful comment, but I did have the same issue Jeremy. I did find some old colored light bulbs in my storage closet once, so I wonder if a party store (we have Party City) would have perhaps an incandescent black light?
