‪12. O Brother Where Art Thou (Prime) - I was way too pregnant to see all of The Odyssey in theaters this summer. Rewatched this Coen Brothers retelling and I love how weathered everybody looks. Their casting department nailed it. Amazing bluegrass soundtrack too. ‬

‪11. Raiders of the Lost Ark (Prime) - Action classic that reminds us it’s always acceptable to punch Nazis. Or run over them with a truck. Or melt their faces off. Dealer’s choice really. Harrison Ford is super dreamy TBH.‬

10. Addams Family Values (BluRay) - Tied with Spirited Away as one of my most watched comfort films ever. Uncle Fester marries a black widow while the kids are stuck at a snobby summer camp. Endlessly quotable with Gomez and Morticia as quite possibly the healthiest married couple in media history.

9. Hercules (Disney+) - Disney's version of Superman. Still pretty good even for being a lesser film in the Renaissance. James Woods sucks as a person but he makes this film as Hades. I don't want a live-action version of this BUT... Connor Storrie from HR would undeniably be a perfect lead.

Sorry to hear it's been such a common problem for ya! I'm a light sleeper w/ a 10 week old so melatonin gives me aggressively vivid nightmares. This one in question was a many-limbed AI Donald Trump monster drinking kids blood to stay younger. (True, that's basically just him now, but yeah, gross.)

8. The Menu (Hulu) - I really regret not seeing this in theaters back when I had the chance. A horror comedy about the pretentious world of fine dining and snobby gourmands who make food service a living hell. Very sharp script and Ralph Fiennes looks like a sad Basset Hound with a death wish.

7. Hocus Pocus (Disney+) - A silly Halloween staple that is held together by the amazing chemistry of the Sanderson Sisters. Still as aggressively 90’s as ever, but a seasonal watch for a reason. Pairs well with a daytime visit to the pumpkin patch.

6. The Brave Little Toaster (Disney+) - Another childhood favorite. Yes, I was a deeply sad child. :D Lots of early Pixar tropes with memorable characters. It’s also incredibly depressing and just my style of fucked up. The ultimate case of don’t judge a video by its cover. RIP suicidal flower. :(

5. Ferngully (Prime Video) - One of my childhood favorites. I put it on the projector when my newborn was fighting sleep. Still dig this one even if the line coloring sometimes makes the character detailing look muddy. RIP to the real ones, Robin Williams and Tim Curry.

4. Fear (Prime Video) - Campy, pretty mid thriller featuring Marky Mark as a controlling scary boyfriend and a young Reese Witherspoon before she sold her soul to AI investments. Feels like teen Fatal Attraction but specifically intended to freak out suburban white moms.

‪3. Rosemary’s Baby (Kanopy) - Somehow never watched this one before. Rosemary is way too polite; I would’ve forced those hags to get the hell out of my house. Rent controlled apartments can make you compartmentalize a lot of weird stuff I guess. She has an iconic voice though. 🦄‬

Saw two different houses that got TP’ed overnight and I felt old as hell. Haven’t seen that happening in at least 10 years. Or at least it’s crazy to see kids wasting toilet paper like that post Covid.

Oh yeah, it was absolutely still very distracting. The other elements did make up for it to me but for a more recent example, I had the same problem with Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil, which kept me from loving it. If you want one with less swears but same vibes, Goodfellas is excellent.

Wow, Kanopy is like a weird, buggy broke bitch version of Mubi. They have a lot of interesting stuff but the interface is complete ass. Worth checking out if you have a library card though.

2. The Wolf of Wall Street (Kanopy) - My 2nd favorite Scorsese movie but most remarkable for having incredible pacing for a 3 hour movie. Totally forgot Henry from LPOTL is one of the sleazy investors too. The biggest asshole you know loves this movie for all the wrong reasons.

1. Greener Grass (Kanopy) - Truly bizarre and hilariously absurdist movie about a suburban woman who has trouble saying no or setting boundaries with her toxic neighbors. A pastel cross between Wet Hot American Summer and The Stepford Wives. God is this a weird one but I kinda loved it.

Watched Fantasia 2000 at 1 AM while feeding my daughter. I have a soft spot for it but mostly I’m bummed out at how experimental Disney used to be with their films. The management now is so cowardly that a project like this realistically won’t happen again anytime soon.

So I’m at my doctor follow up three weeks after delivering my baby and I’ve dropped 30 pounds since I had her. Which is insane. I weigh less now than I did before I was pregnant. One of the fastest cures for my body dysmorphia was having a baby because holy shit.

The newborn stage honestly sucks. Everybody downplays how bad it is but when you have a 2 week old that is colicky as hell and you just want her to take a nap already, it’s so frustrating when you’ve tried everything else. If my mom wasn’t coming over so often, we’d get no sleep.

I’m officially too pregnant to go to the movies normally. 😔 Made it through about 1 hour of The Odyssey but the IMAX noise and frequent bathroom breaks got the better of me and we had to leave early. I’m certain I’ll finish watching it soon but I was overly optimistic trying to go there now.
