Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Have you read other Soseki? I highly recommend The Miner, an early stream-of-consciousness novel about a boy wandering the woods until he’s recruited to work in a mine. 120
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 22/08/2026I was so impressed by these I subscribed to the Design Room instantly. 010
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 12/06/2026Instant paid subscription from me! Fascinating story. And @designroom.site has REAL ILLUSTRATORS contributing?! What a dream. 010
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 02/06/2026Loved Invisible Cities, but my favourite so far is Cosmicomics, as someone else recommended. Similar format as Cities, but full of proto-sci fi concepts. Very much in the vein of Borges. I look forward to reading more! 120
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 02/06/2026Which four? I’d love to know what you’ve read by him so far. 110
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 01/05/2026Early computer animation funded by the NRC. We used to be a proper country. 020
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 13/03/2026The frowny collage face on Bill Callahan’s Woke on a Whaleheart album is an upside down Mario face. Not enough people are talking about this. 020
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 22/02/2026Learned that Jamie Stewart wrote a book from this post. Thanks! 010
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 28/01/2026Immediately ordered this from a local bookstore, based on that panel alone. 000
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 25/11/2025There are two samples in the Earthbound soundtrack taken from the Jon Hassell and Brian Eno record Fourth World Vol 1. Despite all the articles and videos documenting Earthbound samples, I’ve never seen these documented. 030
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 19/09/2025Nice, that’s a hearty set up. Thanks for the intel! Looks great. 010
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 18/09/2025Whoa, my basement looks identical to this and I was daydreaming about doing something similar. Had no idea how I’d mount it into the foundation wall, mind sharing what you did?? 110
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 16/09/2025Mario and his friends live in a post-scarcity society. Ownership is meaningless to them. 030
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 02/09/2025In the current shoegaze economy, I could probably make $10,000 on the bootleg My Bloody Valentine t-shirt I made in high school. 020
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 29/08/2025Thanks! Look forward to checking those out now that I get the appeal. I think the extremity of the NTS sessions has helped me appreciate what they’re really up to, compared to some of their earlier Warp contemporaries. 010
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 29/08/2025I've tried Amber, Tri Repetae, assorted best-of playlists in the past. Nothing's connected until now! 110
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 08/07/2025Will have to re-read, I nearly forgot about Asterion. Library of Babel really sticks with me, what a perfectly surreal concept. There’s nothing like Borges! 010
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 08/07/2025Favourite story from Labyrinths? Such a cool cover on that edition. 100
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 20/06/2025There’s also a lot of baggage leftover from City-skeptical lefty movements (60s environmentalists, Industrial Revolution socialists). So these otherwise progressive types become very conservative when it comes to city building. 0220
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 20/06/2025I’ve seen a real unwillingness to learn how cities work from a few friends on the left. I think because a lot of the fundamentals aren’t intuitive and don’t fit with preconceived lefty values. 1250
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 03/06/2025@remysiu.com I saw Foxconn Frequency (no.3) a few years ago and was blown away by it—had no idea you were also behind 1000xRESIST! Can’t wait to play it. 110
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 22/05/2025Great article, hope it spurs change! Frustrating that this chestnut about road widening is still getting past fact checkers in 2025. 000
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 18/05/2025Thanks for this video! I found it surprisingly hard to find helpful critiques of Jane Jacobs after reading her. Lots of pearl-clutching from different political sides without much explanation. This is clear and critical analysis that a writer like Jane Jacobs deserves, nice work. 010
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 10/04/2025Just saw this back-to-back in my timeline with a post complaining about the new Stereolab video being AI. Bummer! 000
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 10/04/2025Bummer. Just saw an identical post under yours in my timeline complaining that the new Pulp video is AI! 010
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 25/03/2025All things that helped me out of a music funk lately. Hoe you don’t mind unsolicited recommendations! 100
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 25/03/2025Great new compilation of ambient Japanese electronic called Virtual Dreams vol. 2 Total Blue is an LA jazz group that put out a really vibey/electronic/fusion-y record last year (don’t knock it til you try it!) Shabaka put out an excellent spiritual jazz album last year. Lots of interesting sounds 100
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 25/03/2025If I may be so bold: Crack Cloud - vancouver post punks who’ve been putting out high-concept punk albums as of late. This is Lorelei - really interesting electronic/indie rock album. New MJ Lenderman is excellent. Have you heard the sprawling new new Cindy Lee album, Diamond jubilee? 120
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 21/03/2025Lived in Canada briefly as kids, and absorbed some hazy nostalgia from NFB movies (as you might guess from the music!) Would love to know which Ian Rankin novel is name dropping Boards of Canada. 000
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 20/03/2025Just want to say: Thanks for always posting good stuff! There’s a handful of moments I can point to that really evolved my music discovery, and following you on Twitter a couple years ago was one of them. 110
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 22/12/2024Caught it in a theatre, it was genuinely stomach turning! 010
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 22/11/2024My favourite movies? That’s easy: I'm Not There (2007) I'm Still Here (2010) Are You Here (2013) Wish I was Here (2014) You Were Never Really Here (2017) I'm Not Here (2017) I'm No Longer Here (2019) Here (2024) 000
Travis @travisss.bsky.social · 25/08/2023We need to use a single word for crocodiles and alligators. The state of this is shameful. 050
