I've wanted to draw a Komodo dragon for a while now and some days ago the word "rubenesque" came to mind... I also wanted to try the same 90's filter trick that I used with my last pic :3 🦎😎

Miranda is back and needs some new autumn clothes 🥺

Miranda the greenland shark pulling up some yoga pants that have clearly seen better days. She is saying "Doesn't feel like these fit anymore... Would you be a dear and help me find some new pants that do?"

merit to players wanting those items! A reward for their dedication (and/or their luck). But overall, I just don't think random encounters should be a component of progression in any game.

Traven @traven.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

powerful you need to be to progress is annoying. I just can't see the fun in saying: "I'm so stuck, let me load up an old save and grind random encounters so I can beat the next boss." If random encounters have a chance to give rare rewards that are valuable enough to grind for, I think there is

Letting players level up by fighting random enemy #147 cheats them out of some of the difficulty and struggle that comes with a later, more meaningful fight. It's self-sabatoging to the progression of a game. Maybe for some, that power fantasy is worthwhile, but I think generally trying to guess how

There's a strong reason so many new TTRPGs try to downplay levelling as a system, or even D&D DMs using milestone leveling instead of XP. Random encounters are rarely *dangerous,* and if they are then the danger doesn't feel *earned.* Without meaningful reward, for what purpose do they serve?

/thread Just wanna share my thoughts: I think I am kinda tired of the entire mechanic of levelling in RPGs lol. I don't think I like the arbitrary number that represents how "good" I am at combat resulting in more health/damage and maybe a new ability sometimes. It's difficult to be motivated by XP!

Sea lions can rotate their hips which lets them do their signature waddle on land, while seals cannot and just kinda... flop around on land instead! Sea lions also have external ear flaps, while Seals just have holes on their head for hearing. Both fascinating creatures!
