#riversoflondon autumn, day 6: tower Hugh Oswald's very inconspicuous home (aka the Gatley Park Folly which the fanwiki puts as his tower and reading through the description in the book I have to agree) #inktober #drawtober
A house that mostly consists of a central three-story tower, topped off by a dome. Two figures walk towards it: Hugh Oswald leaning on a cane as well as his granddaughter Mellissa. Black ink on paper.

#riversoflondon autumn, day 5: fog maybe taking a midnight stroll wasn't very smart, Thomas #inktober #drawtober
Thomas Nightingale, seen from the back, as he he takes a stroll during a foggy night. His left hand rests on a cane, while his right is lifted to make a werelight, which hovers right above his upturned palm. There are three silhouettes in the fog, two barely visible and one that is behind Nightingale, reaching out for him. Black ink on paper.

#riversoflondon Autumn, day 4: haunted house - Abigail and the Shadow Lady
In the foregrounds stands the ghost of a woman, a book in her right hand (cause I didn't know what else to do with it), while her left hand is raised in a gesture as if she is conjuring a werelight. Instead of a werelight hovering above her palm, we see Abigail peeking around a corner at this scene. Black ink on paper.

#riversoflondon autumn, day 3: light - "Nightingale held out his right hand palm upwards and made a fist. 'Watch my hand,' he said and opened his fingers. Suddenly, floating a few centimetres above his palm was a ball of light. Bright, but not so bright that I couldn't stare right at it." RoL,ch.3
An illustration of Peter's first magic lesson. In the foreground is Nightingale's hand, raised and with palm upwards; above it floats a werelight. In the background stands Peter. He looks at the werelight in wonder. Black ink on paper.

Not sure if anybody on here will see this/will want to participate but just in case: here's what I'm trying to do. Feel free to join in! (Should go without saying but don't use ai!) #riversoflondon #riversoflondonautumn
Map of the Thames and its tributaries at it flows through London with labels affixed to its course. These labels are the Rivers of London Autumn prompts. Four prompts are not attached to the river; these are bonus prompts. Digital art, black and white.
The prompts: horned, train, light, haunted house, fog, tower, fire, fox, book, chimera, past, vampire, smithy, wings, experiment, path, flashback, shapeshifter, staff, power, signare, too many teeth, apples, leaves, curse, light in the sky, river, ancient, bees, werewolf, and stakeholder engagement.
The bonus/alternative prompts: gesture, vestigium, music, and temple.A see-through rectangle overlaying a collage of map sections. On it are the rules for the Rivers of London Autumn: Fulfil as many of the 31 prompts as you want to in October and November. Either follow the Thames or make up your own order. Additionally the prompts are listed here too.
Digital art, black and white.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a writer with an idea is in want of a notebook- so the real question is - how many?

Since Nightingale learned German loooong before the Rechtschreibreform, muß man wohl annehmen, daß seine Rechtschreibung etwas veraltet ist. #riversoflondon

Little drawings for the for the #RiversOfLondon Moments inspired by the covers of the books and buoyed by my love for maps. I went down a few research rabbit holes to draw these and it was a lot of fun! #art
15 small drawings of maps, one for each of the first 15 RoL moments.
1: the Navy and Military Club's original location at Piccadilly.
2: Florence (Arizona) in the US, with signs pointing to the too many prisons.
3: the BKA in Meckenheim.
4: the ground floor of the Folly.
5: Waterlow Park, funnily enough there's a building (or organisation?) called Lux there.
6: Casterbrook, at least where I think it might be. I followed the descriptions in Moon over Soho and then just plonked in a field.
7: the Brocken; I wasn't quite sure where exactly the moment takes place so I went with the top of the mountain.
8: this moment is an interview and I wanted that reflected in the drawing, so there's a cassette tape. And the New York Public Library since that's where Stephen works.
9: I spent so so long trying to find Swinfaeder in the Chilterns and I failed. I just put it on the other side of Ambrose forest, so very close to Casterbrook cause that's where the talking foxes seem to have come from.
10: Kite/Parliament Hill.
11: couldn't find Allcroft so I made something up.
12: Fortnum and Mason in London.
13: another interview, this time at the Folly.
14: there's only so much you can do with an ocean tbh.
15: this one drove me nearly to desperation since try as I might I couldn't find appropriate maps of Pitlochry around 1978 but I knew that the hospital has moved since then. Finally I went with a guess ^^

Eroica am Rhein - All of the Prussian breeds in one spot: Eroica (in the middle) with two other heavyweights, a Berghexe and a Mauerfuchs flying through the fog over the Rhine, with the building site of the Cologne Cathedral in the background. #temeraire #art #dragon
Five dragons flying through the fog over the Rhine. There are three heavy-weights of Eroica's breed, all grey or brown coloured with yellow or orange highlights and lighter wings, with Eroica, a brown and orange dragon, in the middle. Above him flies a Berghexe, a green middle-weight with beige and grey wing edges. And above the Berghexe flies a Mauerfuchs, a grey and orange courier. In the background the unfinished Cologne Cathedral can be seen through the fog.
