can’t have the dang thing just hanging open though, so i stitched the front pouch closed best i could. at some point i need to tackle it but maybe not when the thought of digging out the old zipper causes a feeling of dread 🫠

i am so tired of this wheelchair. every time i let my guard down it finds a new way to be jank. the footplate regularly comes unscrewed, the brakes are terrible, the casters needed repeat repairs, one of the armrests is useless cus it broke, and now, NOW— the lever to lower the back has lost a screw

it’s weird realising its been days since i’ve looked at anything here but like, in my defense i kinda turned into a stitching hermit laser focused on finishing the cross stitch sampler i’ve been working on. which is done finally, only took 7 bobbins of floss to complete the dang thing lol

well my light tolerance has gone back to «overhead lights are tolerable» so here’s a picture of the sampler i’ve been working on for the past few days design is from long dogs samplers www.longdogsampler.com/product/wish...

scroll frame with white aida cloth rolled on it. there is a sampler partially stitched in dark blue thread, most the work done being either border lines or the decorative repeating pattern above and below an open center space where text will be. the pattern is very natural feeling, looking like fern leaves and insects with long point mouth-tips and curly antennae. the outer edge has been marked with evenly spaced stitches, to match the chart, a single thread runs straight down where the stitching currently ends, meant to keep where the work is paused neatly lined up, and the top and bottom are labeled 上 and 下 for easy identification while stitching the decorative portions.

oddly woke up early this morning and not because i had a half dozen alarms blaring to drag me from sleep. it is,,, admittedly weird for me to see a sunrise without staying up all night, but with the new med that doesn’t seem to be an issue. does leave me groggy though. ehh can’t win em all

a mostly cloud covered sky over a snowy town, there is pale yellow like streaking across the undersides of many of the clouds and seeming to burst from an only slightly darker source at the horizon where the clouds briefly scatter and give way.

time has driven the clouds away from the horizon and slightly towards the viewer, leaving wispy cover in their wake that allows the blue sky to peek though. the sunrise has progressed, trading pale yellow for brighter hues, including now orange and a dash of pink. it’s still peeking out from the horizon but more and more above it is free to be shined through.

finally had enough so pulled out and cannibalised the original-now-spare casters that were removed from my chair when this whole misalignment issue first cropped up. between the two i managed to make one Better Caster that hopefully will work more reliably than this scratched up piece of junk

a wheelchair caster, specifically the stem that attaches to the chair. the top of the stem is all scratched up, revealing shiny metal under the black paint, a result of continually slipping out of position

i know i’ve barely been active here but i swear i still exist :V just kinda got lost in playing DQ I+II HD2D (beat I, working through II now) i also made a tissue holder. been meaning to for a while cus i inherited a few that my grandmum made but didn’t dare take them out lest they get damaged

i .have. made some biscornu cus apparently that’s the only thing i can concentrate on enough to distract with lolsob i’m so thoroughly done with this week already

two biscornu style pincushions. the top is a flower motif, one side (shown left) has a large bloom and leaves encircling it, with a red bead pinning down the fabric. the other side (right), has multiple blooms and leaves all surrounding a red button.

the bottom has simplified designs of Hokusai’s Fuji prints, both sides within the interior of a square so their beads are positioned as if in the sky. the left side is Fuji from Gotenyama and the mountain is in light greys and blue, with sakura branches in the corners. a spring-like green and pink stone bead pins the center. the right side is the famous Great Wave, the yellow of the boat contrasting with the deep blue of the water and dark grey of Mt Fuji. a blue-grey stone bead pins this side.

have recently been working on, and finally finished, a cross-stitch i had to shelve a few years ago due to no longer being able to sit at my table-attached stand. managed to get a smaller arrangement working by the bed, so now i can stitch and just flop over sideways when i hit my vertical limit

a cross stitch of the word “ope” in all capital letters in the style of illuminated manuscripts. the letters themselves are pink, and the embellishments and yellow

the pattern is from shitpost sampler (apparently ob note: i am not shitpost sampler)

sooo after almost a full literal year of chasing paperwork and more than one primary doctor involved, i FINALLY have my new wheelchair. it’s a tilite aero z with a smartdrive mx2+ power assist. will have to find a new way to attach my bag cus this one has a completely different back than the last :V

so, my building had landscaping done across the entire grounds and one of the things they did was rip up the entire circle in the driveway and fill it back in with dirt, a weed barrier,,, and this tree. surely someone can foresee that it’ll be a menace to the curb/pavement in years to come??

well it only took almost 80 hours but i finally beat dragon quest vi. that’s every main line game except dqx (at some point i’m going to have to figure that one out but hhhhh) it’s tempting to try for beating all the side games as well but there are So Many and a good chunk aren’t translated 🫠

on a less kvetchy topic, i have been spending a *lot* of time playing DQM3: The Dark Prince, and also recently started a new journal (my first w/o lines) mapping confusing dungeons (or even just rooms) is SO much easier on this dot grid vs the lined journals i’ve been using. def keeping to lineless

so it’s been raining on and off today and i almost didnt scavenge this little desk but it’s actual wood not particle board so it was absolutely worth the challenge of getting upstairs. ig someone was tossing it cus the back panel was falling off? i just nailed it back on, easy fix for free furniture

a small wooden desk with a long drawer over the open space and three drawers of varying size to the right making a cabinet leg. it’s about 30in long and equally tall, and the top is roughly 16-17in wide but you wouldn’t know it from the image because it’s covered by multiple screen-and-sewing-machine shaped lumps under a green scarf, with a basket next to them. the open area for one’s legs has been filled with boxes and two computer towers and a folding tower sit to the left of the desk. there are cross-stitch on the wall above it, and a kitchen can be seen around the corner in the background
