How should we manage street parking in the City's busiest areas? Street space is limited and valuable. That's why we use performance-based pricing. By charging to park at the busiest locations during the busiest times, drivers can find a parking spot when they need it.

Over the next few years, SDOT and Seattle City Light will install around 200 new curbside EV chargers across Seattle. We're now accepting applications. Get details and apply here: sdotblog.seattle.gov/2026/10/13/sea…
Photo of a curbside charging station, with text overlaid from the linked blog post saying that applications are now open.At-a-glance:

The City of Seattle is installing up to 200 new electric vehicle (EV) curbside Level 2 charging stations by 2030.

The purpose is to expand access to an affordable, environmentally friendly transportation option with more reliable charging near people’s homes and apartments.

Electric vehicles help reduce air-polluting emissions, minimize traffic noise, and create neighborhoods that are more resilient to the effects of climate change.

Level 2 charging provides 12-30 miles of range per hour and is the most widely adopted in the U.S.

Speed is a factor in hundreds of collisions on our streets each year. Speeding makes crashes more likely to occur and do more harm. A person is twice as likely to be killed if they are hit by someone driving 30 mph than a driver going 25 mph. Illustrated graph from @propublica.org:
