Today London Trans Pride was full of celebration, defiance, joy, tears, pride and protest. 150K trans+ people, allies, parents, partners, & children saying “ENOUGH” at the cruelty & blatant discrimination being targeted at trans+ people in the UK - much of it from our current government!
Standard

150,000 march through London in world's largest trans pride, organisers say
"The co-founder of advocacy group
Transparent Action said: "Andy (Burnham), if you're listening, I'm the mother of a trans child who took her life by suicide and more children are going to die on your watch if you don't do something to reverse the anti-trans policies that your predecessor has overseen.

Everyone should have access to timely, respectful and evidence-based care that meets their individual needs. For trans and non-binary people, this means healthcare grounded in internationally recognised standards and delivered without stigma or delay ✍ Sign our pledge: tinyurl.com/transparentaction
PROPER HEALTHCARE

Everyone should have access to the care and support they need. Our children should have access to timely, compassionate, respectful and internationally recognised evidence-based healthcare to meet their individual needs.Being trans is not a mental illness, or a 'bad outcome', and harmful conversion practices must be banned for everyone, not matter their age.TRANSPARENT ACTION

Our children should be able to join in with friends, study without fear, apply for jobs, travel safely and access public services without prejudice. The rights that protect everyone must protect them clearly and consistently. This is not a special request. It is equal treatment.
Our children should be able to take part in society without being treated differently and without fear of prejudice or exclusion.

FREEDOM FROM DISCRIMINATIONThe rights that protect us all must also protect our trans and non-binary children, clearly and consistently, including in school, work, healthcare, housing, and public spaces.

FREEDOM FROM DISCRIMINATION

Trans+ people deserve to live, learn and work without being singled out or treated unfairly. As parents of trans+ people, we've seen how discrimination creates barriers in school, healthcare, housing and in everyday public life. It pushes people out of opportunities that others take for granted.
FREEDOM FROM DISCRIMINATION

Everyone should be treated fairly in every area of life.

Parents know how important it is for their children to have a secure foundation. Legal recognition is part of that foundation. It protects trans and non-binary people in daily life and reduces opportunities for discrimination, delay or doubt.
Non-binary people should also be recognised in law so that no one is left unseen or excluded.

Transparent Action @transparentaction.bsky.social · 12/12/2025
Legal recognition should be straightforward and accessible, not a long or demeaning process that heightens vulnerability. This includes recognising non-binary people in law so no one is left unseen or excluded.
Our children should be able to have documents that reflect who they are, with a process that is straightforward, accessible and does not disadvantage them.

Our 2nd Transparent Pledge point is legal recognition. Everyone should be able to live confidently as themselves with documents that reflect who they are. For our children, and all trans+ people, this is about safety, privacy and the freedom to move through life without unnecessary barriers...
Legal Recognition
Everyone should be able to live safely and confidently as themselves.

This principle matters because respect is the starting point for everything else. It shapes how teachers speak to our children in classrooms, how employers treat trans+ staff, and how journalists and politicians talk about our families. It influences whether our children feel valued or targeted.
Our children should be called by their correct names and pronouns and know that those around them will treat them with respect.People in positions of influence, such as teachers, employers, politicians and journalists have a responsibility to speak with kindness and compassion, challenging misinformation and promoting understanding backed by evidence

Today we are sharing the first of the 7 principles of our Transparent Pledge: Respect and dignity. Every person deserves to be recognised for who they are and to be treated with kindness. As parents, we see how transformative it is when our children are called by their correct names and pronouns.

This is what exclusion looks like - It is a door closing on a child who only wanted to take part like everyone else. Our children should have a place to belong. They should be able to join clubs, activities and community groups without barriers, fear or uncertainty.
...She is absolutely devastated and was crying for so long.

She still does dance class with her friends, which she loves.

It’s just sad to build up her excitement and then it all comes crashing down.

It is such a sad time for many trans girls who take part in girl guides and have made many friends and happy memories.”

🤍 We stand with every family affected by the Girlguiding policy change What happened to this young girl is not an abstract policy debate. It's a child who was excited to be part of Rainbows with her friends, tried her sessions, loved them, was ready to join. Now she's been told she doesn't belong.
Parents of trans people speak out...

“My daughter has just done some trial sessions with the Rainbows as she has some friends that attend and she loved it.

We are in the middle of arranging a legal name change and we were waiting for that to be sorted before we registered her. But today we were told that she can’t sign up now...

🤍 We stand with this parent and every family who feels let down by the decision of Girlguiding to exclude trans members. This person has given years of their time, energy and leadership to Girlguiding.
Parents of trans people speak out...

“I am so sad and angry about this. My non-binary child has been involved in Girlguiding since their 5th birthday.

They represented both the county and region on internationals and as a non-binary person were allowed to complete leadership training......They have been a Young Leader, a Leader at a Rainbow unit and, as an adult, became a county lead volunteer for LGBTQ+ issues.

They are trying not to simply up and leave.”

Transparent Action @transparentaction.bsky.social · 05/12/2025
Decisions like this have real consequences, and they fall hardest on the children who already face the most barriers. Many leaders and volunteers did not want this. They value inclusion and want every child to feel part of their community.
...This decision is not wanted by the majority of the leaders. It is being forced upon them by a minority who are happy to see children suffer.

I am pleased that Scouting has welcomed girls into the organisation in all sections since 1991- all girls. Scouting is for everyone and will remain so. Again, I do not know the numbers, but there are many trans children throughout the organisation. They will continue to be welcome.”

Transparent Action @transparentaction.bsky.social · 05/12/2025
Parents with decades of experience in these organisations know that trans girls are not a danger, and excluding children who simply want to join their friends makes no sense. Children should never be told they are not welcome in the same activities their classmates enjoy.
...These organisations have given joy and a sense of belonging to generations and have prided themselves on their inclusivity.

I do not know how many trans girls are at present in the Guiding organisation, but this decision makes no sense. What danger does a child pose?

Imagine being told you are not welcome at 5, or 6 to enjoy activities with your friends. Friends you play with every day at school...

🤍 We stand with the parents who are speaking out against the Girlguiding rollback on trans inclusion. Guiding and Scouting have always been places where children find friendship, confidence and belonging. That is why this decision feels so painful for so many families. #ProtectTransKids
Parents of trans people speak out...

“As a member of uniformed organisations for 50 years, I am deeply saddened by the decision for Girl Guiding to no longer be trans-inclusive.

I went through Brownies and Guides, moving over to Scouting at 18. My own daughters each chose different paths- one Guiding, the other Scouting...

Today’s announcement from Girlguiding to reverse their previous trans-inclusive policy will come as painful news for many families. We know GirlGuiding has worked for years to include trans girls and to offer them the same opportunities as their peers. #ForAllGirls

The article claimed that the BBC’s representation of trans people has “damaged” children. As parents of trans young people and adults, we felt it was important to offer another perspective from the ones they typically publish. Our children have not been harmed by seeing themselves represented.
