It shouldn’t be this hard to tell him, it’s not even something that’s necessarily a secret and still Jayce can’t help being uncomfortable.

They’re in the slightly odd in-between state of knowing each other inside and out as best friends for years, but only having taken the step towards a romantic relationship barely three weeks ago. And that was really more of a desperate leap into each other’s arms than an actual step. Physical intimacy posing such an uncomplicated continuation of what they’ve already had as a deep emotional connection for so long.

And yet this is something Jayce wishes he could just conveniently erase from his own body and from Viktor’s perception.

“Jayce, please tell me what’s wrong?” Viktor cups Jayce’s face carefully between his palms. Most likely feeling the warmth seeping into Jayce’s cheeks from the tender touch and the ridiculous awkwardness he just can’t shake over this topic.

“It’s—” Jayce starts and then sighs loudly. He leans in so his face is pressed into Viktor’s sternum and he can avoid eye contact for this. “It’s my period. I still get it sometimes and it does make me a little… thin-skinned.”

“...Oh,” Viktor says, like he just realizes he could’ve come to that conclusion without help.

“Yeah,” Jayce mumbles into the scratchy wool of Viktor’s sweater vest, wrapping his arms around Viktor’s middle.

“That is, ah, good to know. I just don’t remember you ever being… this short tempered, or at least I’ve never noticed in the past years.” Viktor muses. He cards his fingers slowly through Jayce’s hair, petting absentmindedly. “I’m sorry you’re feeling unwell, but what’s different today?”

“Well,” Jayce chuckles quietly. “Usually, I’m not so… distracted that I forget to pick up a new dose of meds to help with the, ah, pain-induced short temper.”

Viktor’s hands still as he seems to connect the dots more easily this time. He cradles Jayce’s face and forces him to look up again. The corners of his lips are twitching with amusement. “What exactly was distracting you?”

“I think you know very well.” Jayce smiles and can very much see how Viktor realizes they have spent nearly every single day and night together since they finally confessed their feelings to each other.

“Ah, I see. How careless and egotistical of me.” Viktor strokes his thumbs apologetically over Jayce’s cheekbones. The touch seeps through Jayce’s body like warm honey.

“Yes, poor me, horribly distracted every night by a gorgeous man making sweet love to me. It’s a wonder I get any work done during the day when you’re the only thing I have on my mind all the time.” This would be laying it on thick if it wasn’t the simple and unfiltered truth, too easily slipping out of Jayce when Viktor’s hands are on him. Jayce doesn’t mind, they spent too long hiding their feelings, he doesn’t want to hold them back ever again.

Sweetly, color shows fast on Viktor’s pale skin. He huffs a shy laugh as a charming blush graces his face. “I’m afraid that now I just want to distract you even more.” He leans in and presses their lips together in a kiss.

Heat pools together with the numb pain in Jayce’s lower belly as Viktor’s teeth graze over his bottom lip. It’s not that Jayce doesn’t want this, but still he pulls away a little.

“We—we still have work to do today,” he tries with a raspy voice.

“Jayce, we’re so ahead of schedule I think we are going to be fine if we take the afternoon off so I can take care of you.” Viktor presses the words as little kisses over Jayce’s jaw, undeterred. “And make you feel better.”
