One fundamental for continuing the good feeling here or anywhere is wise, proactive moderation. In the early days of social media, systems like The Source or Compuserve had visible moderators who could intervene when “flamers” (read trolls for mist of you) got out of hand.

Consider a wonderfully explanatory theory in chemistry called "dissipative structure" from Ilya Prigogine. He showed that a structure gets too complicated until it collapses into one that works better & is simpler. This has been applied to social structures too. www.nobelprize.org/prizes/chemi...
