So it's like 16 hours away from me for a 2-hour reunion because that's as long as my relatives can stand to be around one another. As much fun as it would be to show up in a dress with makeup and boobs, probably not worth the trip.

I finally got the letter. I'm so disappointed. It was a photocopy of a printout of a phone screenshot of an invitation to a family reunion with a handwritten note saying she hopes I'll attend. I'm not exaggerating about the screenshot printout photocopy, either.

I mean, as a kinda disabled girlie, it would be awesome to have bits i can direct with my thoughts to help out on a small scale. But mech scale? Witch from Mercury bits that can combine into different shapes and forms at need was such a cool idea. Plus that series was Utena with Gundams.

Literacy truly is dead. It really is wild how bad people are at sight reading words. Or accepting the spelling and pronunciation offered for a name they're unfamiliar with. I use Pae for short but prefer to keep that to friends and family since it sounds too close to "hey" at work.

That's why I want a Scandinavian collaborator. Make the spelling a nightmare but still faithfully and legitimately get the pronunciation across. Have fun with it. That said, the people who call me Mister P or just P get an all expenses paid trip to Second Location.

So, the spiteful part of my brain says if people are going to butcher, ignore, or change what they call me, then why not make the spelling of my name a cognito hazard if nightmarish proportions? Umlauts, the thorn, maybe a j in there somewhere, it's all on the table. But I want it to be legit.

Here's the deal: I knew going in that picking an unusual name was going to have its struggles. I spelled it slightly differently to indicate the intended pronunciation and I only break out the thorn for signatures, trying to make it as easy as possible to say my name. It's not working.

I think next time I start a new career of Mechwarrior 5 mercs, I'm going to start by building rep with Canopus, taking the money I save in the process, and disappear from active merc duty for a bit to re-emerge into the IS as Jane Mechwarrior. If I played on PC, I'd mod this. Canopus has good shit.

Started playing the Shadow of Kerensky missions for the first time today. Even though I knew I was walking headfirst into an encounter with Clanners in the first mission, I thought I was at least somewhat decently prepared for an initial clash.
