The sky at Lansdowne and Dundas (Steadfast Brewery).
A picture of the sky crisscrossed with wires and cables taken through a large open window overlooking a patio with an umbrella, a fern and other plants and lights. The establishing shot. The interior of the bar showing the large garage-door type window open to the patio. There are chairs and instruments clustered in front of the window where the band — The Taproom Gang — will play soon.

Canada Day feast in the Anthropocene. Cold soup, shrimp cocktail and cake.
A bowl of bright green zucchini, watercress and mint soup garnished with mint and a tiny slice of lemon. Cold shrimp on a platter with slices of lemon and red cocktail sauce next to a green salad. A sponge cake dusted with sugar and bowls of red fruit: cherries, strawberries and raspberries.

Me and my Dad. Happy Father’s Day to all who celebrate. My Dad’s birthday is in June. In our house, Father’s Day kicked off what he called Father’s Day Fortnight 😆

Education divides continue to grow. These two stories were back-to-back in the Canuckistan list.
A story from the Globe and Mail: Private school enrolment keeps climbing as parents look to give their kids an edge A story from the Walrus: Education in crisis- For children who are refugees, education is a vital lifeline. What does it take to deliver it?

Nearly two fifths of displaced people around the world are children lacking consistent access to education.

We have had so many perfect days in a row I’m starting to believe in good things again. It’s as windy as feck (that cloud sailed by before I could finish this) but still perfect from my sheltered spot under the maple tree.
As seen from an urban garden: A puffy white sails across a deep blue sky, past trees, cables and second floor decks.

A small but mighty crowd of the cool kids gathered at Queen’s Park on this gorgeous day to say no to corruption and the takeover of the waterfront and to demand health care, community care, education, transportation and housing justice for all. #FightFord #NoJetsTO #BikeTO united for #onpoli.
A crowd of people against a backdrop of trees carrying protest signs and listening to speakers. A large banner reading Stop Doug Fraud with a person in a frog costume dancing in front. Two people standing on grass holding colourful protest signs against a bright blue sky. Doug Ford is foe unless you hit his stag and doe. Doug Ford is a crook, take a closer look. A crowd of people against a backdrop of trees and buildings carrying protest signs and listening to speakers. The most prominent sign reads Fuck Ford.

An English tea (including a quite lopsided Victoria Sponge) for an English mum.
English tea comestibles on a table: Smoked salmon, egg and cress and Brie and sprout sandwiches; shrimp and sauce; and scones, strawberries and cream. A lopsided Victoria Sponge (cake). A bouquet of periwinkles, dandelions and bleeding hearts in a small green vase.

I made it to High Park at peak cherry blossoms for the first time EVER. It’s such a jolly, peaceful and friendly place to be.
People gathered under the blossoming cherry trees talking, laughing and taking pictures. A beautiful old cherry tree laden with blossoms stretching up to the sky. A close up of cherry blossoms.

It’s snow globe beautiful out there. I’ve only shovelled once but I foresee many more rounds. Basically by the time you get to the end, you can start again. Fortunately it’s light and fluffy, the views are pristine and all city sounds delightfully muffled.

A very cute plastic snow person wearing a black top hat, a red scarf and green mittens and carrying a straw broom sits on a deck surrounded by bricks in the vain hope that the snow person will not get blown over on the windy days.

As I was leaving, Mr. Canada First was still ranting about how Marxism never freed anyone, how we needed to accept God into our lives and that he isn’t a fascist but actually a biblicist. It seems as though he hasn’t made it to the New Testament yet.

After a couple of hours, Canada First walked up the sidewalk to confront No Hate directly. The police moved in pretty quickly. One person was arrested but it was not clear to which sign the arrestee was aligned.
Canada First moves to the sidewalk north of the No Hate people and are corralled by police. The two groups face each other. No Hate responds to Canada First with chants: No hate, no fear, immigrants are welcome here. Canada First was also chanting but I couldn’t hear those chants.
