More exciting research! A new publication by Justin Coppe and Veerle Rots explores how morphometric interpretations influence evolutionary models of prehistoric weaponry and challenges long-standing assumptions about projectile technology. Read the article here: doi.org/10.48738/202...

Dr Roussel used thin, elongated blanks to apply diverse techniques of backing and larger, thicker elements to pressure flake them with the horn of a roan antelope into points with basal ventral thinning.

Our latest knapping adventure took us to Leiden, where Dr. Morgan Roussel from Paleocraft and Skills demonstrated his expertise. He crafted various blanks from siliceous stones sourced from ancient river terraces near Rose Cottage Cave and western Lesotho.

The Lommel–Molse Nete is one of the most extensive and best-preserved Federmesser sites in north-western Europe. This unique Late Glacial site offers exceptional opportunities to explore how hunter-gatherer groups at the end of the Ice Age organised their lives and adapted to changing environments.
100
TraceoLab @traceolab.bsky.social · 14/08/2025
By also comparing Lommel–Molse Nete with nearby sites such as Lommel–Maatheide, we aim to place it within a broader landscape archaeology framework.
