Great news for #HepTestWeek - the country’s first opt-out BBV testing pilot in primary care has been a resounding success to date Over three months, the pilot tested over 1,500 patients and successfully identified 0.97% with a positive BBV test (HIV, HCV, HBV) 🧵1/3

It's due to be another hot day today with an Amber Alert still in place for London. There are a number of direct and indirect effects of hot weather. The best thing to do is stay out of the direct sun, especially during the hottest part of the day, between 11am and 3pm, as UV rays are strongest☀️

Increasing temperatures in excess of 25°C are associated with severe illness and excess heat-related deaths in vulnerable people.
Higher temperatures can affect your health in different ways.

Direct effects
• dehydration
• heat cramps
• heat rash
• dizziness and fainting
• heat exhaustion
• heart attacks heatstroke
• increased risk of lung illnesses and other diseases

Indirect effects
• Increased demand on healthcare services
• Power outages, affecting homes and healthcare services
• Wildfires, and by association smoke inhalation
