Nice comparison of badger guard hair and fox hair caught on fence wires. (Eagle eyed of you will see some badger hair in the fox fur as it’s also a badger path). #mammals #mammaltracking #tracking #trailing #wildlifetracking #Foxes #Badgers

I have had some positive feedback from my webinar last night on badger field signs, which raised an amazing £1000 for the @badgertrust.bsky.social charity. I’m so pleased as a charity close to my heart and they do some amazing work for #Badgers #Brocktober

Happy Mabon. #mabon is the pagan festival marking the autumn equinox, a time of balance when day and night are equal, symbolizing gratitude, harvest, and the transition from the abundance of summer into the darker half of the year.

Happy World Otter Day Otters are great indicators of water quality. They require well-connected wetlands, lochs, reedbeds and good fish, mammal, bird and amphibian populations to survive - conditions that are sadly declining. 📷 I took on the Isle of Mull. #WorldOtterDay

Had a lovely day at the Badger Trust AGM. Wonderful to see the crime fact sheets launched, that I have been part of developing with the charity. Also it was a pleasure being asked to deliver a presentation on technology in badger work.

Otter signs. There were making a comeback but in some areas they are still hard to spot and the state of the pollution in rivers and waterways from intensive agriculture, slurry, maize, chicken muck and then the water companies pumping effluent in doesn’t help. Come on let’s clean up 💦.

Someone was asking me about bears and wake up from hibernation. First male grizzly bears typically emerge from their dens in April, followed by females next month, their first thought is of food this consists of protein-rich sedge grasses found abundantly in the riparian areas and estuaries.

Rather than me telling you what this field sign is why not have a little quiz 🤔 there are no prizes sorry. So it’s formed (clue) by a land mammal that is known for thier turn of speed. Answers in comments 🙂

Muntjac legs and red fox scat. It appears it has kept the fox fed for many days. Muntjac can live for around 18 years however this one was not so lucky.

Bears have the best sense of smell of any animal, dog's sense of smell is 100 times better ours. A badger around 800 times better. A bear's sense of smell 2,100 times better than ours.

Went checking on the badgers after the storm and floods. We sadly lost one big ash tree, which will keep us in logs and some left for habitat. It narrowly missed some young oaks when it fell so amazing. Also I am always amazed when I see the one almost hollow ash still standing after each storm.
Old wise Ash how you stand strong after many a storm all with badgers at your feet.A path well trod by muddy paws.Flood prone brocks seek high groundBadger Snuffle holes of the freshest kind.
