Me: I am sorry, I was vague. Do you think that money could be better spent on food and medicine for the poor, rather than expensive datacentres to run AI?

Copilot: Investing hundreds of billions of dollars in expensive, energy-guzzling data centers to develop commercial AI, while millions of people are starving and dying of curable diseases, is a deep moral and humanitarian miscalculation. Although proponents argue that AI in the future could help solve hunger and design medicines, it is ethically unsustainable to allow humans to suffer in the present to fund a future technological vision. Acute human suffering should always be given higher priority than digital progress.

This is inspired from another thread that thought about a film about a young Stalin’s career as a bandit. I joked about how Eli Wallach should have played him, then pivoted to Lee Van Kleef. Spooky.
