This thought occured to me yesterday and I was compelled to make a meme for the first time in my life.

Howard of Conan the Barbarian fame wrote "Skull-Face", a short story centered on the villainous antics of the titular atlantean, who after being revived in the modern day plans…to overthrow white supremacy and white hegemony. Yeah. That's the villain's motivation.

Just sent bluesky a strongly worded note on their upcoming censorship policy. Easy to do! There’s a “Feedback” button at the bottom of your sidebar.

My comment: “The censorship due to take place in relation to your rules update coming next month is wrong and unacceptable. Characterizing art as consensual or otherwise is deliberately vague and will only be applied unevenly to the benefit of whomever can drum up a hate mob. The censorship on your site is already wildly misapplied on a routine basis in a way that clearly betrays unfair bias against the very groups who made this platform viable in the first place. From the ground up, the bluesky that exists today was built by a community of artists and trans and other queer people on the premise that this was a platform where they could freely express themselves. The policies that you have enacted and announced actively dismember that freedom of expression. I as a Bluesky user should have the right to curate my feed to my liking, there is no law or just argument against consuming the type of media you intend to arbitrarily censor. Content moderation tools have existed on your site for years now, let me use them to my liking. Please rescind this policy and allow for a free and open sky.”

So when a restaurant asks me my name, often I’ll give something simpler, purely as a practical matter of “this is a 40 second interaction I don’t need to extend with a spelling lesson”.
