Touching Light Photography @touchinglight.bsky.social · 20/08/2026The photograph here, of the Three Gossips in Arches National Park, is no longer legal to take using the methods I did when this image was shot March 25, 2014. Light painting of the rock formations has been strictly prohibited since 2017 to protect the dark sky status of several national parks. 020
Touching Light Photography @touchinglight.bsky.social · 20/08/2026One of my favorite perspectives on Delicate Arch in Arches NP - photographed at sunset (obviously!). Just beyond the arch, to the right, is a bowl often referred to as Delicate Arch Bowl - a steep-sided drop off (requiring caution when walking near the edge!). (3-23-2014) 050

Touching Light Photography @touchinglight.bsky.social · 06/07/2026Okay, gotta bore you with hummers. It IS that time of year, and I only have to walk about 15 feet from my front door. Guess I'm just lazy. 1212
Touching Light Photography @touchinglight.bsky.social · 05/07/2026The agility of hummingbirds never ceases to amaze me. This is an Anna's hummingbird, doing a quick body flip to fly back to the flowers it was just feeding on. 150

Touching Light Photography @touchinglight.bsky.social · 30/04/2026Serious question. I have trouble reconciling my interest in photography, and the travel necessary for landscape photography with my concerns about climate change. How do you all rationalize/justify travel with the massive problem of climate change 110

Touching Light Photography @touchinglight.bsky.social · 30/10/2025The light was not pretty today in the Skagit flats of WA state, but I was out for a while. Here are two photos of Red-Tailed Hawks. In the left photo, there is a mouse in the hawk's left talon. On the right, the hawk was standing on one leg on a post a long way out (1200mm focal length). 261

Touching Light Photography @touchinglight.bsky.social · 14/10/2025I traveled up to the Skagit flats in WA this afternoon. Touching Light Photography @touchinglight.bsky.social · 11/07/2025I am surrounded by beauty, close at hand, just footsteps from my front door and back door. Nature comes into my life when I am patient and spend the time to appreciate everything that is close to me. 191
Touching Light Photography @touchinglight.bsky.social · 11/07/2025As I've gotten older, I've grown to realize that many of most beautiful things in life come from simply observing the nature that is within a few footsteps of the front door or back door to my home. 0141
