It was such a pleasure to attend the groundbreaking of East Santa Clara Senior apartment complex in San Jose last week! In Congress, I’ll continue fighting for policies that will make it easier to build new units and lower housing costs.

Housing affordability and downtown vibrancy are concerns I hear over and over from our neighbors. When we had the chance to acquire this parcel, I saw the opportunity for the City to play a direct role in providing affordable housing while increasing foot traffic by bringing more residents downtown.

Today we broke ground on East Santa Clara Senior! 🪏 So much of the housing discourse is centered around the challenges that young people face when entering the housing market. But seniors, many on fixed incomes, face similar challenges as they confront the same unaffordable housing landscape.
