So Ukraine went from having no cards to having too many cards

Trump and reality parted ways a long time ago

Exactly this. Russians were quite happy when they thought things were going well with the war. Now, not so much

Russians have had plenty of opportunities to get rid of Putin. Every time he has changed electoral laws so he can stay in power and at the beginning of the war. Mass protests did happen in Russia over pension reforms, but since then nada

The same poll says that 71% of Russians support the actions of its army in Ukraine. The poll does say that a majority of Russians support peace talks, but when asked if Russia should give up part of Ukraine in peace talks, a large majority are against stopping

Well most independent polling, obviously done secretly, shows that a majority of Russians support the war. Or at least did until things got tougher for them. Perhaps younger people don't as much, but most older people not only support the war but support Putin as well

Putin could tell trump that it's raining while peeing all over him and trump would believe it

Putin could tell trump that it's raining while peeing on him and trump would stand in front of the camera covered in pee while telling everyone that it's just rain

Within 50 years, there will be statues of Zelensky around the world to show what democracy, resistance and heroism really is. Whereas trump will be taught in history classes and not in a good way

The UN is becoming more irrelevant every day and with its officials making statements like this, it's just making the whole organisation an embarrassment. Time for it to go

Trump could accuse Ukraine of interfering in American elections because they have stopped Russian trolls and bots supporting maga

Yes they are. Most Russians support the war against Ukraine and are quite happy to kill Ukrainian civilians. All the war crimes against Ukraine are committed by ordinary Russians. So yes, Russians are the enemy

Unfortunately with trump in charge of America, every dictatorship thinks it can do whatever it wants

I would hope that European countries have planned for this as it's not unexpected

If trump stops PURL then a lot of European countries will reconsider buying American weapons

topov67.bsky.social @topov67.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Many countries in Africa, Asia and south America would be quite happy to have border adjustments in their favour. So once other conflicts increase and it's generally realized that no one is trying to control what is happening, then the ball will really start rolling

topov67.bsky.social @topov67.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Wars are spreading around the world, just look at the horn of Africa. Some authoritarian countries are just waiting to see how the world and trump moves before doing anything and most major countries have already chosen which side to support. WW3 has already started, it's only early days so far

Presumably the trump administration will soon declare that all the trials and sentencing of WW2 nazi war criminals was wrong and they should all be rehabilitated and that Germany will face sanctions for not allowing nazi flags or statues of Hitler

At least someone in America is sticking up for Ukraine

This was just trump threatening Europe as usual
010
topov67.bsky.social @topov67.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
Unfortunately I think it will give trump more than a reason to blame Ukraine. Whether any diesel actually goes to America, trump can threaten sanctions on Ukraine if they attack refineries or ports as it's against American interests. He could also threaten sanctions on European countries
010
topov67.bsky.social @topov67.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
I agree that trump will use this to pressure Ukraine to stop attacking refineries and ports. Whether this will work or not I don't know, but he could also place sanctions on Ukraine and on European countries that help Ukraine. That would be very dangerous
010
topov67.bsky.social @topov67.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
I would expect that Ukraine would want something in return for agreeing to this, for example condemning Russia and not voting for them in the UN

Schroeder is laughing at Germany and the EU at this point
010
topov67.bsky.social @topov67.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
I don't think even trump knows what he will do tomorrow, so any planning depends on how he feels at the time and who he last spoke to

Pakistan is no friend of Iran, so it suits them to attack the Houthis who are supported by Iran. Turkey will probably wait and see how things go

How can it be good for both Russia and Ukraine? Acceptable to both yes, but good? Impossible because Ukraine will lose control over part of its country unless Russia loses completely and Russia will face enormous problems after any peace agreement or truce

Zaluzhny and Budanov might be trusted now, but during an election they would have to give an opinion on a range of subjects as well as going up against a by now experienced politician in Zelensky. Federov is a good example of someone who was very popular, but now not so much

This will cut down interception time for high flying Russian drones over Ukraine and also offers many possibilities for attacking Russian controlled territory as well as inside Russia

I agree. It's so small minded and seems vindictive. The cost to the university would be minuscule, but now many students will be wondering if they should go there

How about European countries tell trump to shut up and sort out his Iran debacle. America is the cause of fuel prices so let America sort it out and release all of its strategic reserves

One of the main problems was allowing corporations to get so large and powerful that they can pretty much tell governments what to do and get away with paying very little tax

I think it would be more useful to go after luxury apartment buildings in Moscow. That would effect the better off a lot more, although Russian air defense seems to be pretty good at taking out their own buildings

It would be better just to sanction anyone working in the russian so called justice system. Also sanction anyone working for the military, in fact just sanction everyone in Russia and if they want sanctions lifted then they can explain how they are against the war and Putin's dictatorship
000
topov67.bsky.social @topov67.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
My thoughts exactly. I wonder how much of trump's foreign policy, if you can even call it that, will continue under a democratic president. America has never been backwards about throwing its weight around behind the scenes
010
topov67.bsky.social @topov67.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
I wonder what he will say if it turns out to be Russia? I'm pretty sure that the silence will be deafening

topov67.bsky.social @topov67.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
It really is so obvious. The difference between him meeting putin and Xi, compared to how he looks when he meets strong democratic leaders is striking. And both putin and Xi play him like a second hand accordion

Not really as he is standing as prime minister and the new president is his deputy, so nothing will change unless he loses. Which he might do as he is not popular

I think that the situation is now so drastic that something has to be done and I am sure they are monitoring Russian activity closely to see where they and their drone teams are
