No not Aedes vigilax, this is 'Aedes phaecasiatus' from Nhulunbuy, NT species 120 on the #MozzieMonitors project on @inaturalist, and the only record of the species on the platform. While the two look similar to the trained eye they are quite distinct. www.inaturalist.org/observations...

Monopis argillacea (I think) A moth we've seen only a handful of times in our Perth Hills garden. If my ID is correct, the caterpillars of this moth feed on feathers lining birds' nests and hair on dead animals... not the nicest of diets! #teammoth #ausinverst #wildoz #Lepidoptera #inaturalist

Saw my first Chequered Swallowtail (Papilio demoleus) in Katherine this week. This widespread tailless swallowtail occurs across Asia and Australia and its caterpillars feed on citrus plants. www.inaturalist.org/observations... #Butterflies #NorthernTerritory #Papilio #Biodiversity
