If you’re going to start adding qualifiers and bulk to that lovely sentence, then I’m not telling you 😂

Don’t you love finding old things you wrote and going “hey that’s not bad!” (we won’t talk about finding old things we wrote and being horrified)

“Modernity has not erased Gothic darkness; it has merely displaced it from the realm of superstition to the realistic and quotidian.” -a banger from Sam George and Bill Hughes @ogomproject.bsky.social while discussing *The Black Vampyre* in their new book.

The problem with Blacula is it’s actually a pretty good movie but to talk about it you have to say the word Blacula

I’m excited for the new Elizabeth Holmes doc too! So I’m revisiting a blog I wrote in 2018– back when I was funny— to jog my own memory. And if I do say so, it largely holds up! toothpickings.medium.com/blood-money-...

They’ve gotta finish the story though! I wish Malloy was more central (as he was in the first season) but I’m still enjoying it. And yes, The Vampire Lestat is the best of the books (I say as someone who rolls my eyes at the character but loves the book)

I enjoyed the last season, despite finding Lestat (the character, not the actor) one of the most tiresome characters in fiction. But a LOT happens. There’s no way I’ll retain it all for next season.

Mine randomly capitalizes words. Why would I capitalize Video or Floor or E.E. Cummings?

My Dutch Bros barista drew this. The drink is a Vampire Slayer. I dream of a day when baristas draw #iHunt's mascot, Trevor on all Vampire Slayers.

You know how it’s sometimes said that the best Christmas Carol adaptation was with the Muppets? I’ll meet that and say the best representation of folklore vampire scares is The Vourdalak. youtu.be/Tzj-5zqGaXM?...

Excellent discussions had last night at the Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe panel and Our Monster’s, Ourselves panel at CONvergence! The big learning is that perhaps “monsters” was way too broad for a one hour panel. We could have kept talking for hours and I bet the crowd would have been into it!

I’ve made a stink about the tank weasels in Dracula (1931) before; but climate change might actually lead to armadillos migrating into the Carpathians!
